Over-Revved!!!

Hey guys,

I couldn't wait to break in my car, so I was at 1,050 miles... 150 miles before the 1,200 mark... So I decided to have some spirited driving.

This actually happen twice:
Coming from a manual u can mostly red-line the car and then hit the clutch in and then shift gears... I have paddle shifters and I waited until ~7,400 rpm to shift, then pressed it, there was a delay before the gears shifted and it went about to ~8,000 rpm before it went into second gear...

My questions is how bad is for the car, when the red-line is 7,500?

it's way worse to have babied the car through break-in than "over-revving". did you hit fuel cut? chances are your tach isn't quite as accurate as you think. no fuel cut, no overrev.

Your engine is toast. (j/k)

Don't worry about it. The engines are tested at the factory. As a matter of fact, Technosquare retunes the ECU to increase tre redline to 8K.

It won't matter, fuel cut kicks in before damage. I suspect you didn't get to 8k anyway, my fuel cut (the one time I hit it ) kicked in before that.

I thought there would be a hesitation between shifts because the computer
won't allow the rear to spin out...

The tach reads a bit high.

the AT will not let you overrev, and the ECU will cut the fuel before you can get to 8000 RPM.

I bounced off the rev limiter twice when I test drove the car. I bought the very same car I test drove . It's fun to know where the limits of the car is.

I'm of the opinion that if the car is going to die being driven hard, it's gonna die one way or another on you anyways, and best you find out sooner than later, preferably when it's still under warranty
