They got the paint from the dealer?? I've never heard of dealers selling paint. Bodyshops make their own paint using the paint code. Every bodyshop has a mixing room with around a hundred or so (depends on manufacturer) tints and mettalics.

I'm not talking out of my *** here, I manage 2 bodyshops, and have been doing this for a while.

First of all, I saw no measuring system, which leads me to believe they are using a mechanical measuring system (very old technology, and no proof it's in spec except the word of the tech). At my shop (and most larger shops) computerized measuring systems, and actual frame racks are used, these can produce print out's of the exact specs, and are far more accurate.

With that said, a car can definatey be returned to pre-loss condition, if it's repaired properly. My best piece of advice is to make sure the shop warranties their work for as long as you have the vehice, and make sure it's in writing.

no it was being measured....its just not bein shown in the picture...and yes they r giving a warranty that itll be fine as long as i have the car....they r doin everythin by the dealer specs....i shouldve tookin a pic of them doin the measuring.....but evering is bein done the right way...dont trip yall

Unless the dealer is a jobber for paint manufactures, or has a bodyshop that will sell you some they mixed themselves, no you can't. Your talking out of your ***.

I'd love to see a picture of an OEM paint container....touch-up pens don't count.

If it was being measured, it was being measured by a mechanical measuring system. Also note there is no frame rack, the pulls are being made by anchoring the vehicle to the ground using pots (those are the chains comming out of the concrete in a few of the photos). Using pots to anchor are fine for sheetmetal pulls, but to perform complex frame or unibody pulls a vehicle should be on a rack completely clamped down.

the guys even showed me the container of the paint....they payed 300 bux just for a small amount...they got the paint the same way how they got me the OEM rear bumper...just cuz u dont know how they did it doesnt mean its not possible....and no im not talkin outa my ***....u do ur work differently...ur way might be better but my car was anchored to the ground and the pulled frame out about half an inch and measured the other side...they also have a spec sheet giving them the measurements...so they knew exactly what to do to meet that measurement....look they told me they got the paint from the dealer...i saw it too...they didnt make it....they wouldnt pay for paint if it wasnt my OEM color....look next time i go...ill ask em everythin u need to know including pix....sorry i dont know **** about body shops.....my dad has many friends in the business.....these guys fix salvaged benzes and bmws that r totally ****ed up and make it look it came outa the dealer....my friend had a SL65 that was involved in a 4 car pill-up and if u look at it now u wouldnt think it was hit and it been over a year since then and the car doesnt have any problems at all so these guys r really good...just cuz they do things differently doesnt mean its bad....just done differently...so stop hating please...not hear to argue budy....just took my car to a place that has a good rep for fixing cars, also including that i know them...ive seen the cars they fix and they do a GREAT job....amazing job....so stop hating just cuz ppl do things differently

u want to know something funny... my car has EXACTLY the same damage as yours.. except for mine no paint came off.. I mean eaxctly the way the edge pf the plastic comes out at the tail light the way the side pops out.. the dent etc.. EXACT.

I do not see any frame damage for you in the trunk.. but if you look at your picture where the spare tire use to be.. on the left edge mine is crumpled a bit.. i cant explain but my floor mat doesnt sit properly now.. so it has ot be pulled.. now that you mentiond your door, I have to go look and see... I may take apic and post... but i just laughed when I saw the picture.. the uncanny resemblance... how much is this gonna cost you?

I got mine rear ended a about 12 days after I bought my car. I had the rear crumple rails and trunk floor replaced.

Remember, modern vehicles are unibody vehicles. They don't really have a separate frame. The "frame" is essentially the various parts of the car welded together. The various zones are designed to crumple and be replaceable to a certain extent.

They basically cut the various rails and components that need to be replaced at the factory seams and weld new pieces back on. They use a laser alignment system to ensure that everything is within factory specs. Supposedly, their tolerances are even lower than the factory tolerances.

Other than knowing that my car was in an accident, the car itself drives exactly as it did when it was new, including the stupid rattle in the front dash that they still haven't been able to find

It took at least 4 additional visits to the shop to line up the bumper cover though. I have no idea what's the deal with those guys but they seemed to have everything right but couldn't visually tell the bumper cover wasn't lined up. Morons.

But, my car drives like every other G35S I've driven, so I'm more or less glad it's just all behind me.

Did they spray your trunk metal area with anything? mines isnt repaired yet. I am dropping it off when I go to Europe next week. 6000 is really pricey. maybe because you had the door gap issue.. i checked mine, doesnt.

I was quote 1900. Infiniti Dealer btw with a big bodyshop. They have lexus toyota and nissan dealerships, so this big bodyshop handles all of those.

I wonder how expensive and involving it is to replace the trunk floor.

When you get your car back can you tell me is they sprayed black undercoating on the areas they stretched back ?

well its cuz of the labor and my door issue but parts for infinitis are hella expensive and aftermarket parts arent out so they buy the parts from the dealer...thats why its sooo expensive
but ya ill let u know if they sprayed it black...what does it mean if they paint it black...is a bad thing or what?
cuz i know the bottom is black

I dont think a dealer sells infiniti paid... only paint that is mixed, so the dealer is mixing his own paint from their body shop.

So i think you dont know what you are talking about.... I call BS, maybe not on your part, maybe the body shop is making you a fool...

Also taking money from the insurance for bodily injury to mod your car... well you my friend are the reason our premiums are going up....

Enjoy your car... Karma is a Bi**h....
