First fill up

Sup guys! I'm new to the forums and I just got a black/black G35x. The car is sick. Quick note though...

First fill up: $75 - SF, California

My mileage right now is really bad. I'm avg. about 18-19 (highway/streets). Is that normal or am I still in the break in period? I have about 200 miles on my car currently.

Not too knowledgeable about these since I'm new, but from what I've been reading your mpg are about normal. The G35 has bad fuel economy

Congrats on your new ride. welcome to driver. 18mpg is about normal. 20 - 23mpg combined is considered great on these cars but you really need to grandma the car to get that much.

Considering you have an 35x thats seriously not bad. I've heard horror stories of 12-13 mpg. Why an awd when you live in SF?

Thats about accurate. My G gets about 19-20 on about 90% city driving.

Those days where I decide to put it in DS mode and take it down curvy backroads...well cut that mpg by half and thats what I'm getting.

I'm averaging 27mpg on the highway and 19-20mpg in the city. But since I do mostly highway driving, I'm going about 23mpg. The G can get good gas mileage!

Oh crap.. lol that is normal? Dang... oh wells I was just curious. My neigbhor has a silver G35x and he gets about 23mpg + combined driving. He got his first oil change already too. So I thought that was a factor.

Does the stillen intakes affect gas mileage?

Averaging 24.2 mpg combined
Tires @ 40 psi, 70% highway driving
Cruise set at 65 on highway (- speedlimit 65), with cars whizzing by me with faster drivers thinking I am mentally challenged. (My silent protest to OPEC)
Car is 2 months old. When the car was newer I was getting 19 mpg (also driving in a more spirited fashion)

If I fill the trunk with helium balloons, I think I might get at least a mile or 2 more per gallon.

Under what I would call "normal driving conditions", I'm also averaging about 19 mpg.
If I behave myself, like d280c explains above, I get much better results.

I'm getting consistent 19mpg with 50/50 city/hwy. It sucks but like many people here say "You gotta pay to play"

Through everyday driving, i'm also getting 19.X mpg....
On LONG trips i get ~23 but i'm usually doing ~80mph. If i slow it down to 50 i can get ~26mpg and i have 12k miles on my G

2008 G35x. highway driving (baltimore to Allentown, baltimore to dewey beach) i've averaged 24mpg on both trips. To and from work daily, city driving 19.

Apparently the AWD is only supposed to kick in when it needs it. never had any electronic gauges or way to tell on my '03 325XI, but it had to be even less than taht. and i had to put premium in her. My g35x i can use mid grade.
