Vinyl is used, but i'm not sure what type.... Blue Bat sells the overlay, and you can probably go to one of your local tint shops and they can put it on for you, if you don't want to attempt it yourself

if you do go to a shop make sure that they know what they are doing... a lot of times if they screw something up they won't replace it because it isn't something they normaly do.

Wet the overlay and roof with soapy water and place the overlay.
Once in place, squegee out the excess water and allow to dry.
Is it really that hard to place a roof overlay?

The headlights and tails are a nightmare due to the complex curves, but the roof... how hard can it be?

I agree the tail light overlays were a absolute pain (I watched the installer do them... worth every penny I paid )
DIY is always a great learning expience. I tryed the trunk lip spoiler and failed miserably due to cutting for the trunk button and back-up camera... + it was my first time ...

Here is the link to the DIY thread. Good luck and let us know how it turns out (pics and all): https://g35driver.com/forums/body-in...f-overlay.html

I have the xm antenna on my roof. I done window tint plenty of times at my shop. But on the roof is sketchy for me. I also have a sunroof so there's some obstacles..lol. The fact that the pattern will have to be done myself, I just don't want the razor cuttin into the paint. Even tho I have a steady hand, there's always room for mistakes.

I have never heard of anyone doing vinyl it sounds like a bad idea to me in the long run.I have only seen people paint their roofs black.

I would not suggest Bats for the roof, it is two peices and very hard to install, my pro was frustrated after an hour of trying one side, we said F it, and will do a single piece next week. Bat makes good overlays for lights, but the two piece on the roof is a pain in the azz

Good point! An installer can have years of experience doing window tint, but vinyl overlays are a diffeent material altogether! I always tell people to make sure the installer has experience with vinyl overlays, not just window tint.
