Wow, you guys need to shop around. I'm paying $452 per YEAR for my 07 G35 journey. How are your rates so high? Mine even includes an additional $4k+ policy for my aftermarket wheels. I've seen prices from $54 to $340 per month on this page. That's $648 to $4080!!! per year. My policy is via Travelers. I just moved my car, wifes car, jewlery and home policy with several add ons. I saved $700 per year on these new policies combined and I upgraded all four policies along the way. Do some shopping around!

Imagine if you keep that car at $4080 per year with no increases for 5 years - $20,400 for insurance! Wow.

Austin TX
State Farm full coverage 50/100/50 with $500 deductible, no accidents or tickets (well several speeding tickets, all dismissed)
03 G35 sedan - $76/m - 34 yrs
03 Mazda 6 4cyl - $71/m - 29 yrs

Works out to about $1800/yr for both cars.

Edit: bike is $99/yr with Progressive for liability, comprehensive, uninsured/underinsured (no collision coverage).

Part of it is where you live and what your car is rated for your area, etc. There are places that are just cheaper for insurance PERIOD regardless of company. I've shopped around and the only ones who can beat the rates we have are the ones that don't have the best customer reviews.

If we do have the same coverage with the same company then I guess the difference in price we are paying (I'm paying $264 more a year) is probably largely based on location. When I moved to the house I'm in now (in the same state, just 50 miles away but further from Philadelphia than my previous location) my insurance went down by $400 a year. I was with Progressive at that time but since switched to Allstate with my homeowners insurance. I too have a lot of discounts (I think 6 are listed).

Yes, and most importantly one's driving record, age and multi policy discounts or not. However $4000 per year is ridiculous for someone with a clean record according to him. 23 years old, outstanding driving record. I'm at 340 a month. I live in a metro of just under 2 million people in the suburbs, not rural. The only other major city I’ve lived in was San Diego. My insurance rates were maybe 2-5% higher at that time. $4000 is a crime in any city with a clean record.

I have had policies with one insurance company for many, many years and thought there were treating me fairly but I got a notice in the mail one day asking me to allow an agent to stop by my house to take some photos, so I called them. As we talked I got him to admit something that created more questions for him. At the end of the call he did not want to come by my house. I said I "..planned to start shopping around". Finally he said, well if you shop around you find a better rate. Wow, what insurance agent would admit that? Well good for me he was honest. He was only honest because he realized he would have been wasting a trip to my house if I planned to shop around. I suggest everyone find a few insurance Brokers and have then do your leg work. I saved a ton this year!

I also have USAA (best customer service ever) with 200/300/200 coverage and it runs me $325 every six months. Many discounts apply and I haven't had a ticket in over 10 years.

Many times their parent's are paying for it or helps them with a huge down payment, and they might pay monthly. I know ALOT of Asian kids in my area all drive brand new infiniti's, lexus's, and Mercedes all ~18-20 and basically either that's the car their parents bought them for graduating highschool, or they work for their parents, so their parents take care of ALL of their bills. But there are a few that might actually work for their car. I bought my G @23 years old, slightly older, but i was still in school when i bought it, and i was still able to buy it on my own...

I bought my G at 21, still living with my parents. It was the first car I can honestly say I purchased on my own. My dad gave me 6500 dollars to buy my first car, which was a used 95 Q45 and he also gave me 3500 for a down payment on my 05 Altima 2 years later. My dream car since high school was always a G though. I wish I would have been smarter back when he game me those 6500 bones, but hey we learn.. That would have made a nice down payment for a G back then lol, since this was like mid 2003-2004.

But with the exception of co-signing for me because I had no credit yet, my mom and dad had NOTHING to do with my G...

^ see that i can respect, and i think parents should help buy a car for their kids, but they should not hand them a $35K. my rents got my first honda for me for 3k, and i paid them off over time. that car lasted me till 270,000 miles. then i bought my 07 G by my self when i was 25.

hey maybe im just a lil jealous that they don't know what a good days work is worth. some day the kids gunna have to fall off the tit.

back to the subject, i pay $1600 a year for full. i have a few tixs

A G ain't $hit in my town though, I see kids driving brand spanking new S550's/ Lotus Elise's / BMW's/ etc. It's common place...

Too many spoiled rich kids, their parents don't give a **** about them, neglect them and give them all the money in the world thinking that it will make up for their lack of good parenting while they worry about keeping their income up and and their public reputation gleaming... All the while their kids become alcoholics, get hooked on drugs and crash their expensive cars, but why should they care... Mom and dad will just buy them a new one in the morning. Pretty sad...
