G35 Vs G37 ???? Is It Worth Waiting?

Should I just get the 6SPD G35 OR WAIT FOR THE G37. My only concern is if the g37 is going to be hella faster i will wait , but if its going to be a half car difference from stop, then I wont. Or the g37 will have more features and it is worth waiting. Will the body change?

well if you get the 6mt i don't know. If you were going for the AT then def. wait. But for the 6mt, the sport model now has the G37 big brakes, so that might be worth the wait for some people.

If you can find an 08 with the exact package/color combo that you desire, don't need to have the latest and greatest and want to save a few thousand dollars, buy the 08. Otherwise, wait and buy an 09.

Not worth waiting for me. Figure the rebates disappear ($3,000) and a price increase ($500?).

Is a 10% increase in HP and two extra gears worth $3,500 or 10% increase on the total cost of the car? The 08 has very good power already and frankly, with adequate torque a 5spd slushbox is just right. Seven gears may make the thing annoyingly busy hunting cogs as is often the case with some new automatics.

Personally, I don't think the difference would be noticeable in the real world. And there don't seem to be many other content or styling differences. Other than the one thing I would pay for that is. The damned CD changer in the trunk gets the heave-ho.

Personally, I think the 08's are a steal right now. That's why I'm haggling for one right now.

^ I agree, it is a killer time to buy an 08, and i had waited i would have been a happy camper, but hindsight is 20/20

Same here. This is why I got my 08 G35x last week ($1000 loyalty cash and 0.9% financing). A 22HP increase really isn't that much. Especially considering I upgraded from a 03 G35 so I already got a 46HP increase. The only thing that interests me with the G37 is the potential for better MPG. But, I'm getting over 21MPG in my new G35x with around 500 miles on it so far. That's about the same as what I was getting with my 03 G35 (maybe .5 less). Granted, I've put away the lead foot during the break-in period.

If only I could afford either one of these. But, to me I think the G37 is worth it..Imagine the possibilities of a FI'd 3.7l v6. Also the big brake kit..But, I guess that's just my way of thinking. The g37 has grew on me pretty hard. I didn't really like them until I got to see one in person and gosh they look sweet.

I'd wait. The 09 G37, like the 08 G35, is not going to be a rare car in high demand.

In fact, I fully expect the G37 to be selling at or close to invoice by Dec 2008 - just like the 2008 G35s were in Dec 2007.

The G37 - even in 6MT guise - is more powerful AND more fuel efficient due to VVEL. Plus, I think there may be some minor interior upgrades that will make the car a bit nicer.

The G37 should be out any minute now. Why not just wait a couple more weeks and see what's available. 08 G35s are only going to get cheaper during this time (though 6MTs will be harder and harder to come by).

It is a little more complex. It depends on your situation. Do you need a car soon or you can wait. If you can get an 08 for 4-5k less then the g37 will be. Go for it. If you can wait you can get maybe a good deal on the g37 end of the year or so.

It depends also how long you want to keep it. How many miles you put in the car. If you don't drive it to offen and you won't keep the car too long. You should go for the 08. You maybe saving on gas 100-200 bux a year. If you keep it for 3 years that would be maybe 600. If you get 4k off that is a good deal. But it all depends on all these.

Don't even bring gas into the situation for the following reason:

Let's say you drive 20K miles a year assuming $4.25 a gallon for premium gas and using the 20mpg EPA combined estimate for the 17/24 auto (2008 G35 Auto). Then I'll compare that to the 18/26 mpg rating for the 09 G35 Auto which we'll assume a 22mpg combined EPA rating. Here's the breakdown numerically:

[20k/yr]/20 (mpg) = 1000gal/yr * $4.25/gal = $4250/yr
[20k/yr]/22 (mpg) = 909.09gal/yr *4.25/gal = $3863.64/yr

In the above example, you'll ONLY save $386.36/yr which is $32.20/month on gas. We all know there's $3K dealer cash right now and most people are getting their cars at or near invoice. I'll be conservative here and say the '08 G35 will cost you at LEAST $4K less than the '09 G37. That means at a savings in gas of $32.20/month (or $386.36/yr), you'll have to keep the car at LEAST 10.35 YEARS BEFORE you break even because you spent so much more on the G37. The more you drive the car the faster you break even and the more expensive gas gets, the faster you break even, however, as you can see, 20K is a lot of miles to drive per year. However, for those of you thinking you'll break even a lot faster check this:

Even if you manipulate the numbers and drive 30K/yr at $5.00/gal, you still have to KEEP your car for AT LEAST 5.87yrs before you will BREAK EVEN for paying $4K more than the '08s.

Bottom line, if you were waiting because of the gas mileage alone or if that was a big factor...think again

"And knowing is half the battle!"

I have only had my G for 2 months now and have already drove it 12 thousand miles...lol But, to me I wouldn't be buying it to get better gas mileage. lol I would be buying it for that extra hp over my 04.

WOW...214 some miles a day huh? Hell you'll have 72K in the first year...in your case yeah you'll break even quicker but you're car won't last you more than two years...damn that's a ton of miles! Where the hell do you drive?? That's just crazy.

The difference in acceleration between the two cars will be very similar to two identical cars, one with a 250 pound person in the passenger seat and one solo. I doubt you would notice it. The cash back and the lower price should be enough incentive IMO.
