Exhaust note predictions

Do you guys think it will be a bit deeper/stronger than the 08 g35s, more like the 08 g37 coupe, given the increased size of the engine? Or is the difference in sound between the coupe/sedan a matter of the infiniti's style difference between the two?

Thanks,

Dustin

I at first was wondering if this was just placebo effect because I knew the car got a new motor, but I realized the reason I heard a difference was likely due to the fact that I start up my '07 every single day. I assume because I'm so used to hearing my car that I was able to hear a bit of a difference between the two, however as I said, the difference is pretty minimal. My co-worker in service said he heard a slight difference as well. Unless you drive an '07-'08 or are around them often, I don't think you'll be able to tell though. I'll get back to you folks later with regards to performance.

Thanks for that. As far as the "slight difference" goes, I notice a difference in the 08 g37 coupe as opposed to the 08 g35, could this be the difference mentioned?

thanks,

Dustin

Sedans and Coupes have entirely different exhaust systems.

The Sedan runs an almost entirely true dual setup except for an x-pipe at the middle of the system where the gases from each bank cross over to the other side of the car. The exhaust from each bank then exits the car on the opposite side from which it started out of its own muffler (the Sedan has two individual mufflers at each end of the car out back).

The Coupe's exhaust piping starts off similar except that the exhaust from both banks eventually collects into a y-pipe instead of crossing into an x-pipe. The y-pipe carries the exhaust out back via a single pipe into a larger (than the sedan) single muffler which simply has two tips at each end.
