Seeing Red, or Garnet Ember perhaps

I just ordered a 2009 G37 in Garnet Ember with stone interior. Sport, Nav, Tech and the rear lip spoiler (not the wing spoiler). I got this e-mail from my dealer today:

"The news from Japan is not good. It seems they are having paint issues with the Garnet color and have told the regional office no Garnet will be allocated in November production. Prior to this issue they did build some Nav sport cars without technology packages and there will be a few of those available either through the port or dealer swap systems. Unless any other color is a possibility for you we will be forced to wait until they release the Garnet color again, we hope for December build at the latest."

I was supposed to get my car in the beginning of January. So what do I do--take the Red without the technology, or investigate another color? Something tells me that my wait will become longer and longer for the Red car...sort of like the wait for the G37 that we are all going thru right now.

My other color choices would be the Lakeshore Slate or Liquid Platinum, but it seems that every car in Atlanta is silver. What do you nice people think?

I may end up in the same situation if my car hasn't been built yet. I ordered Garnet/Stone 6MT Premium. I'm curious how you (or the dealer) were able to determine that your spoiler would be the lip not wing version. Nobody around here seems to be able to tell me how to figure out which one I'd end up with if I said I wanted a spoiler.

Interestingly, I was torn between Garnet and Lakeshore as well. I figured that would be a rare debate for most since one is so mature and understated and the other screams "Look at me!".

To your request for advice, I'd be very surprised if you missed the tech pkg. all that much at all. Most people I've talked to say the intelligent cruise control is pretty much a toy with limited real-world usability since every time somebody slips between your and the car in front of you your car will decelerate rapidly to compensate for the instantly shorter distance created and **** off the guy behind you. Unless you spend a lot of time on the open road between major cities I don't see you getting much use out of it. Adaptive lighting is cool, but if you buy into my assessment of the iCC being fairly useless you've got to ask yourself if moving headlights are worth $1100 and a long wait for the car. My guess is you'd be happier with the right color and the missing tech than the wrong color with it.

agreed. if you settle on colour you won't get used to it, it will just come to bother you more.

I really like the ICC and you can adjust the distance between the cars. It also works when it's off and tightens up your seatbelts and stuff if it senses a crash.

I'm wondering about the lip spoiler too. I got a G37xS and it didn't come with any spoiler. I want the lip one but the dealer says there are no part listings for it yet.

Rear Lip Spoiler

Let's just say that I have "ordered" the rear lip spoiler...that doesn't mean that I am going to get it. It is differentiated from the rear wing spoiler as it is installed at the port, not at the factory in Japan. I believe the code is R94 for the spoiler with navigation and R01 for the wing spoiler. My dealer is not 100% sure how to get the lip spoiler on my car either, but by the time the car gets to the port, I'm pretty sure that they will have it all figured out.

I just saw a garnet ember G37S at MWorkz. I dropped my car off there for alignment and the G37S sedan was just sitting in the shop - next to a red GTR. The G had the rear lip spoiler which looks even better in person. It's very similar to the Impul rear wing. The car had Tennessee mfgs plates so it may not have been a full production model.
