One of the reviews mentioned that the clutch takeup on the new 09's is improved. I know you haven't driven the 08's but do you notice any difficulty with engagement starting off or while shifitng? Is the clutch effort light or heavy?

Oh, and Congrats!

This car is replacing my '03 Altima 3.5 SE MT, and I like the feel of that clutch. I don't know if I'm crazy, but I like the heaviness and linear feel of the '03 Altima clutch. I did test drive an '08 G37 Coupe, and this car feels exactly the same. When I depress the clutch on this car, it feels like there is moderate resistance at first, then it seems like the clutch falls to the floor. I'm still getting used to the engagement a bit and also the shift points, but I think over time it'll get better. I'm also still figuring out how to use the 6th gear . This clutch reminds me of my brother's S2000. You only need to depress the clutch a little bit to disengage the flywheel and throw your shift. Another thing that I noticed today was that my Altima also runs at 2600 rpm in 5th, while the G37 does the same thing in 6th

I'm a 3 pedal *****. Not a fan of automatics even if the 7 spd is purported to be faster. I'll row my own gears.

Anyways, on the mod front. I need to figure out how to get the faces redone on my front wheels, I think the rears will fit. I got lazy and decided to have a shop do the drop even though it's pretty easy to pop in the springs. My only other thing I'm crossing my fingers on is that the FI exhaust and HFC's fit. I'm hoping there is nothing different downstream from the headers between the G35 and G37 exhausts. We'll see on Wednesday.

Once you find the 'sweet spot' on where to sit, the clutch is cake.

The friction zone is huge, but the 'catching point' is rather abrupt. Make sure you depress all the way on the G; it's different from the s2k where you can use two inches for full on and full off.

Gotcha. Took the car for several short spins today. There is definitely a lot larger friction zone than I initially perceived. Not hard to drive at all. Thanks for the advice.
