My daughter loves to use the cup holders in our 06 MDX and they have seen a few spills. She doesn't know that the G has cup holders and I'm keeping it that way!

This is not true. My seats have zero movement.
This is an example of an ignorant moron who installs a seat incorrectly and then blames the seat and/or pad it sits on.
I have two of these in the MDX and two of them in the G. I remove the car seats a few times a year during thorough cleanings and the seats are like brand spanking new... not even any pressure creases.

The problem with the amazon reviews are that they are written by morons.
I bought a watch on Amazon once which had some reviews. One guy gave the watch a one star rating because the leather box it is packaged in was scratched upon arrival.

 

My wife and I are expecting in a few months and were concerned about the rear seat room in my G and her Tacoma. We went ahead and purchased the Chicco rear facing seat (Keyfit 30 I think?) to play with/check spacing. In the middle of the rear seat, properly mounted and level, I can have both front seats all the way back.

Well I have a seven year old in a booster. And a one year old. We have had the car since the wife was pregnant with our second and gone through all the stages of seating arrangements. I can say you'll be just fine. I am 6' and could fit the rear facing behind my seat if I wanted to. I also use the seat protector. Always a good idea. The only thing to check is when getting a stroller ask to take it out and try getting it in the trunk. With the cd stacker where it is trunk access is tougher. We have the phil and ted's and it collapses alot so it fits easilly. It is also very rugged and durable. Happy shopping.

 

While so many have already pointed out you'll be fine with a G, I just wanted to insert that you should NOT buy a vehicle based on the rear-facing carseat issue. Your child will not be in such a seat long enough to justify buying a car based on that fact alone. Think about the 7 or so years that will follow when they are forward facing.

 

People that have kids drive Civics too.

How much space you need is up to you. If a midsize sedan will work, the G35x will be fine.

It's almost like asking how big of a house you need. It's personal preference.

We have a kid on the way and will likely be going with a small SUV or crossover. Will we NEED the suv? Nope. But it will be easier to fit a stroller in, and easier to get a baby in and out of.

 

Funny about the cupholders, my son was looking for it on the floor just yesterday. I immediately remembered your post above and kept quiet.

As posted above, yes. Just make sure to use a seat protector.

 

+1 for the chicco cortina travel system. The car seat (with the keyfit base) fits perfectly in the middle of the back seat and both front seats can sit comfortably. Also the stroller of this chicco travel system fits perfectly in the trunk with room to spare. You will be fine. The G is an awesome sport family car
