Wow looks like 0-60 in 5 secs flat. Just wait until the car settles...

Then people wonder why I look down so much on 0-60 times. People just don't analyze and understand what goes into that number.

I understand that Paco, I could give a shiit about 0-60 times..I'm just wondering why they have so much error in their test. K.

btw, the interior is very nice on that car.

This engine must really not have any torque in the low end, 2650@80mph is still too high, IMO. My wife's TL hovers around 2200@80mph. Different TQ curves I suppose. Oh well, still better than my Gen 2. I'd buy it!

Can you find me one in the Chicagoland area? I'd LOVE to drive one

The estimated build date for my 6mt is 11-10-08

I thought the torque-converter in the 7AT locked up in 2nd and higher...

...if that's not true, how is it chirping the tires on the 1-2 shift?

Forgive my ignorance... I'm a 6MT bigot.

Lockup is available in 2nd, but under WOT, my experience leads me to believe otherwise. My G37 sedan driving is extremely limited, but it did allow me to conclude that the tranny behavior is identical to that of the FX, where I have much mroe experience.

mike, how smooth is the shifting compared to the CVT transmissions?

Technically, nothing can shift as smoothly as a CVT, since it doesn't really "shift" at all... shifts are simulated since "gears" are just artificial stoppage points on a continuously-variable gear-set.

That said, I'm interested to hear Mike's answer, and I'm hoping the answer is "not as smooth at all", since if I ever shift (pun intended) from MT to AT I'm hoping the lockup torque converter in the 7AT gives me as close to a MT-feel as possible (i.e., hard shifts under hard accel).

the shifts are smooth unless at WOT. CVT's are programmed to simulate gears, but they are technically never shifting, but always shifting.
