C&D is a sad joke, and here's where they finally jumped the shark with their Bimmer bias IMHO:

2006 Comparison (330i came in 1st, G35 sedan came in 3rd)

Our 330i labored hard to lose.
Then why didn't it?

Then the ABS lamp lit. We tried to execute one stop on our high-desert test road and nearly executed a 360 spin at 70 mph instead (thus, our braking number is from a previous test). Shortly thereafter several airbag-malfunction warnings lit up. Maybe it was just a coincidence.
And then this gem after the brake failure that could very well have had fatal consequences on the street:

But, oh, what a machine!
Really? Is that what we're going with?

C&D has conspicuously ignored BMW's recurring and costly engineering deficiencies and general unwillingness to make good on any of them unless forced (blown engines, cracked subframes, cooling system failures on several generations of 3 and 5-series due to poor quality components or bad design, electrical faults too numerous to list, wastegates, fuel pumps etc etc ad nauseum). It's great and well-deserved that the G37 made 10 Best, but C&D is a rapidly fading star like most of the print media these days for much the same reason...lack of integrity.

its funny no one really does a full long term test on these cars... they'll play w/ them for 1 year and won't go back and show customers how "reliable" these cars are after 3 or 4 years. that will be a great article since a lot of people keep their cars longer now w the economy

As far as I know E36 3s are one of the most solid used cars u can buy. I had a friend who had a E36 328 with almost 150k miles with no problems. Where do u guys get this unreliable stuff from? Is it expensive to maintain? Yes, so is any other car if u do the maintenance and the dealer. Only a dumb a$$ would take the car to the dealer for other than warranty work.

Then you don't know much (see post #19). If you spent less time blabbing on here and actually researched cars you'd know the answer.
