Curbed rear rim and now screwed....lol

my bro curbed the driver rear rim... slid into a sidewalk...
car became unstable and some kind links were bent..
from what i saw, the rim looked like a regular curb scuff however, the dealer said that i will be needing a new rim 900$ and 600$ for link parts or w/e.

im just having a suspicious moment because the rim was barely damaged.... i believe that links were bent but a NEW rim required?!!? T.T

im gonna claim this to insurance but yea... i wanted to share this

Rim could be bent so you may need a new one. But do you think it's worth it to claim $1500 worth of damage on your insurance? I guess it all depends on your deductible, but even then your premium will go up.

Find a used one on here or something. Where are you located?

I would validate why they want to replace the wheel. If it's just scratched, who cares, but bent or cracked then it needs replaced.

I would have them fix the structural stuff like bent links, etc. I would take care of the rim myself either by buying a knockoff (like from the wheelsandcaps.com place you noted) or send it out to get repaired. The wheel repair shop should be able to tell you if the rim is bent and, if it is, they can repair the bend as well as the curb rash for about $100-$200 max.

$900 is a bit much.

Look around for a used set of wheels, you can get an entire set of 17's for less than the dealer wants for one wheel. Post a pic of the wheel also so we can see how bad the damage is.

Are you kidding me? Who the hell would pay that much for stock 17's that costs as much as HRE's? Go check the marketplace threads.
