Extended Warranty

Extended Warranty
I recently purchased both my 07 G35x & my 05 FX35 out from their leases. I would like to purchase extended warranties for both. I went to "Fette Infiniti" in Clifton NJ and they tried to hose me and I walked out. Does anyone know what they paid for theirs? My FX has 22k and my G35x has 19k. I'm looking to extend the FX for 4 years 60k. Thanks

IMO, it is best to get Infinit's Extended Warranty, rather than a 3rd party one: http://www.infiniti.com/ownership/warranty-epp.html
I got mine when I purchased the vehicle (the car had 12 miles on it): 7 years/100k miles w/ $100 deductible for around $1700.

You can try Warranty Direct. I used them on my daughters truck, and so far they've been easy to deal with and their prices were much better then what the dealer was offering.

I got same thing for $1250 (in May). They first offered $2500 and I declined. Dealer has a LOT of wiggle room, the bulk of the cost is pure profit for the dealer.

I have bought these before ... last time on the 9-3 we sold and replaced with our G35S and everytime they have been money loosers.
A thought to ponder from the bimmerfest.com E46 Wiki ...
Here on Bimmerfest, many of us are proponents of underwriting your own warranty! Take the $2000 that an extended warranty would typically cost you and stick it into an interest bearing account. Find a good independent BMW mechanic and pay for any repairs that come up out of that account. I can almost guarantee that at the end of the "would be" warranty period, you'll have money in that account left over!
EVERY time, I mean EVERY time I have bought an extended warranty I would have come out money ahead if I would have listened to this advice.
The extended warranty on our Saab cost us $2008 and we did not have one repair. If you had the car you's know if it is a "Monday Car" with issues, if it was solid while you owned it and has been well maintained, it most likely will not turn into a lemon later.
My point . ... think long and hard before you drop the money on one of those puppies ...
On another note ... during my Corvette days we had many satisfied customers of Warranty Direct on the forums ...

Warranty Direct is probably the best choice if it is too late to extend a factory warranty.
Just make sure you keep good records of your oil changes, etc. as they may ask for copies when submitting a claim. That's not surprising considering they do not have you in their system computer like Infiniti does.
I did some searching before signing up with them. You can do virtually everything online, no brokers to deal with or unsolicited phone calls.
I have a low mileage 36+K '04 cpe and got an additional 30,000 miles bumper to bumper that expires in 3 years for $943.
That includes extra coverage for 'uncovered' parts that fail because a covered part failed, and vice versa, and any emission parts...$110 extra for that.
There are things they don't cover, some are obvious, but all major systems are covered including any high pressure line/hoses, fluids and all gaskets.
They have an Elite plan for about $300 more that covers even more, but either plan gets you free towing, rental car, and even lodging if needed.
I tried this place, since I still had just over a month left on my power train warranty, and they said it's a one time offer to extend my PT warranty for 5 years/100K.
They wanted $2093!!!

I told them I only need 3 years, and I want to cover the whole car...they said good luck finding anybody to do that...now if you give me your Visa number we can get started here. Took me a good 30 minutes to untwist my arm after hanging up on them.
If you go there... I would run, don't walk, in the other direction!
If you just want to shop factory warranties, just email or phone different dealers across the country. I've heard the finance mgr. at Scottdale Infiniti is supposed to have some good discounts.

I got the extended warranty when I bought my G a couple of years ago (bought it with 27K miles). I don't remember how much I paid for it.
It has paid for itself over and over again... so great... My car is being towed back to me for free from Jacksonville to Gainesville after I got a check engine light, and there's no Infinity here.
I will undoubtedly buy my next car w/ ext. warranty
