any suggestion on egg damage?
Few months back my 08 G35xS seden was egged while driving on the highway in middle of the night. I was on Route 22 west bound Bridgewater and Green Brook area in NJ and I think it was an intersection that someone thew the egg. All I remembered I heard the "thump" sound and my wife went "what was that?"
Anyway, I found out only 12 hours later when the egg was dried streaked hortizontally on the fender on the driver side
.
I guess with the force of the egg impact plus the egg was left over 12 hours it created a chipped and swirl mark on the fender. It also ate away the clear coat and some paint.
Try to use touch up paint but I think it worst.
Any suggestion other then repaint the whole fender? Some autobody quoted me about $400-500
thanks in advance.

Unfortunately no easier alternative... the acid ate away the clear coat and paint and this kinda speaks for itself... you can add three or four steps of Zaino, but that's about all I can offer. Insurance gunna cover this?
I know how it feels to have to repaint my car.. paint never seems to look the same if it's a metallic (lighter color) paint.

Egg will absolutely destroy a car's finish.
You will not know the extent of the damage until is is properly cleaned.
I would start by dawning the area to strip it down to the clear coat and I would then hit it with some polish to see if any of the damage can be polished out.
Zaino is not an abrasive polish... it's a non-abrasive polymer sealant. (Yes, even Z-5) It's great at hiding swirls and minor damage but it will never correct the problem. There are several very good polishes on the markey but if you want to just give it a quick try, hit it with some scratch-x (you can get it right at wal-mart) on a terry cloth sponge. Use side to side motions.... not circular. It may take several steps at polishing.
If polishing helps, any remaining minor imperfections may possibly be hidden with a half dozen coats of Z-5, but this will only hide it, it will not correct and remove it.
If polishing doesn't help, it means that the damage is extreme enough to require a body shop to do some touch up and blending.
Good luck.

Egg damage after 12 hours....?
Like Aeson mentioned egg left on a painted surface has the ability to destroy. You were vandalized, you have insurance let them have your car
fixed correctly. You could ask a detailer what they'd advise but I'm sure
they'd shake their heads and say two words, "body shop!"

thanks with all the advice. I will try AesonVirus way of getting the polish (Zaino and Scatch X) when the weather gets warmer. But I guess the best way is probably go to the body shop for the damage. Ah...it drives me nut everytime I look at my car.
