Opinion: Intake or Exhaust

Alright I've been back and forth between a Stillen Gen 3 Intake or the Stillen Cat Back Exhaust (or possibly the FI exhaust)

I'm not looking for a huge power boost so that's not a big deal. I'm looking more for sound, I know the intakes I'll hear in the car when I'm on it but the exhausts will give a deeper overall tone (that i may not hear as much form the cockpit). Also, the exhausts will be visible and look bad-A while noone will really know I have the intake.

So opinions, which should I get?
And both isn't an option!! (yet)

My vote is for the exhaust. It is something you will hear and feel in all driving conditions. They sound great. I ordered my Stillen cat-back exhaust today after hearing one on another G35 Sedan. I have the Gen2 Stillen intakes on mine already. I NEVER hear them unless I am punching it and really putting my foot to the floor. When I do, it sounds good, but if I had it to do all over again, I would have gotten the exhaust first and then the intake.

I'm probably going to order the Stillen Cat-Back tonight. I can't see the FI being worth $300 more than the Stillen?

FI is 1200/1300 plus 100 shipping
Stillen is 1060 with free shipping

Did you talk to Tony at FI directly? I'm sure he's gonna work out a deal with you if you called.

I wrote on a marketplace thread, but I'll contact him today or tomorrow about it. If he can beat the Stillen price (don't really see that happening tho) I'd probably go ahead and order, but I'm looking for the sound and I've heard a lot of good things about the Stillen being a lot louder, and almost too loud in normal situations - but that's what I want.

Any reason you could swing me towards the FI? I know you just got rid of yours but you had it for awhile

If you want loud, go with Stillen with HFC. You'll hear a bit of rasps in the exhaust tone, but it is absolutely louder.

If you want loud without rasps, go with FI with HFC. IMO, FI with HFC is already loud enough without as much harshness in the sound.

At the end, you chose what you ultimately want... so good luck!

Yeah I definitely hear you on the HFCs!!! But I don't know if i want to deal with those too. I'm thinking just a cat-back exhaust system then move on to other things. Half because I don't want to buy another part for the exhaust system and part cuz the legality/CEL issues.

What's your opinion straight exhaust FI vs Stillen?

FI is pretty subtle without HFC compare to Stillen IMO..., but at WOT, both exhaust sounds beautiful as well.

It all comes down to your preference. If you must own loudest, go with Stillen.
