What is the truth about ordering a G37 Sedan?

I put down a depost in Mid-November so I missed the November "slot". Assuming my car was a Decemeber order...I felt that I would be fine as my current Nissan lease is up at the end of this month. In late december I got the itch to add nav to my order. I called my dealership and they said as long as I decided before the end of the month they could amend my order.

SO, long story short, that's what I did. 09 G37 Sedan, 6mt, prem., nav, rear spoiler. They've been pretty mum during the past few months. I called around Feb 1 to make sure we were ok. They said yes, call/contact us in a month. I did. I was there March 1st to have my summer (SE-R factory) rims put back on to prepare for the lease turnin. I asked and they said the car was built and on its way. I'm about to call now but the other thread about no orders since October or whatever has me nervous.

They should be able to give you a date if the car is already built and shipped

Each dealer should have up to date status reports from the factory that show which VIN number has been assigned to your car and it's current status/location.

When I was in the market looking for a 09 g37 6mt premium, I was told that the 6MTs were only 7% of the 09 g37 population and that it takes anywhere up to 3 months to get it to me. Another dealer told me that Infiniti halted production but i don't know if he was full of s**t or not. Like g35_6gear said, dealers know when infiniti sends them the invoice for your car.

I don't. I've only been given assurances that the car will be here. Last week I was told "the week of the 30th"...so..we'll see. If something is dropped on me like "uhh...we don't have a car, excuse excuse..." I'm gonna be livid.

BUT I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll just keep waiting it out.

Having ordered both a 07 G35S 6MT and an 09 G37S 6MT I can tell you that both factory orders took about three months. It's hard to say what the wait will be now with the production cuts and the scheduled idling of the factory.

I have a similar question as the OP. I'm looking at a G37S that's been sitting on the lot for almos a month. The dealer said it was built (or possibly ordered) 08/2008. Dealer said they received it straight from the factory the week of 3/6/09. Is that a typical time frame for build to delivery to dealer?

Anything is possible. My G37 was built in November and I picked it up in December. When I was in Phoenix last week, I had a brand new G37, with only500 miles on it, as a rental and it was built in October. I'm sure there are plenty of cars still sitting at the port waiting to be delivered to the dealers.

That was a very informative read. My concern is that this dealer's offer is so much lower than those in the area that there must be something that he's not telling me about the car. Just me being paranoid I guess

To the OP, hope your G comes in as scheduled. Looking forward to mine, hopefully tomorrow!
