Popping noise in A piller
Hey guys...anyone else have a popping noise somewhere around the A-Pillar? It happens very frequently when I go over road irregularities. Sometimes it sounds like its coming from the lower part of the windsheild and A-Pillar, other times up top.
Trying to figure out if its in the pillar itself or windshield...
It goes into the shop tomorrow the brake TSB and i want this fixed as well...so any thoughts would help.
thanks!

No..it's definately coming from either the pillar, shifting in the windshield, or the headliner...it's always in my left ear...and drives me nuts!!!
How did you get them to replace the entire headliner? I've had mine in four times for sunroof noises and each time they fix it...then another rattle comes in a month or two...
niggly thing...but annoying. Still love the G tho.

my best guess would be that due to body flex there could be a bolt or nut not shot down to torque specs and the shift is causing a slight poping noise. possibly in the dash. open your door and pull the lil black covers off of the holes in the door weld(front by the dash).
check to see if the bolts are all the way tight.

rattles come from all the snapon plastic pieces and lack of insulated material in certain locations with tight tolerances. works wonders for productivity on the assembly line and cost effectiveness in the engineering field.
i plan to start addressing rattles soon with some dynomat or foam padded sticky tape

Actually....i found out the issue. If it's coming from the A-Pillar, then it's spot welds. My new service advisor said he has seen it on 5 cars (including mine) so far. They have to send it out to a body shop to have it fixed. Takes 2 days or so.
It's nice to have an answer finally!!
