Review: Affordable In-car Camera Mounts
I've been meaning to go the DIY route on this, and with prices for doing such fitting in the $15-$25 range, it sure beats the professional mounts that cost quite a bit more.
However, i stumbled onto the . For roughly the same price, i figured why not give it a shot?
The mount is very well made, sturdy, highly adjustable and relatively inexpensive. I took it to the track and it held up well without losing grip. The only catch is it won't mount to the front windshield right-side-up when a video cam longer than 5 or 6" is attached to it. It works well upside-down however. This isn't an issue as most, if not all, video software will allow you to rotate the video with just a few clicks.
Mine was attached to the sunroof, baking in near 100 degree temperatures. Here's a sample of what the camera sees mounted this way. The mount also works great outside the car by the way.
As an alternative, prior to me getting the Panavise, i used the small wrapped around the passenger side headrest, that works fine as well, but obviously the http://gshack.org/g/index.php?album=injen-sri&image=InjenSRI-OnRoad.mp4 isn't as great.
Anyway, just wanted to share.
