Staggered Wheels
Staggered Wheels
To everyone with staggered wheels. I need your advise. I have the G37 19” OEM staggered wheels.
How do you deal with tire rotation if you have staggered wheels? I guess my real question is, is there anything that i can do to keep my tires longer?
Do we ultimately end up spending more on tires?
Thanks.

Thanks Everyone. Yeah. I read a couple of articles regarding this topic; the fact that you can’t rotate staggered from back to front and vice versa, and you can’t do a side-to-side rotation if the tires are directional. Kinda common sense. But I was just hoping there might be something ‘special’ I can do to keep the life of the tires longer.
Turning undirectional tires is a good idea, but it still does not solve the bigger issue, which is the uneven wear of the front vs the back.
Anyone interested in trading their front OR back G37 OEM wheels with mind? Dumb question, but seriously!

I am just thinking of the longer term cost in keeping the staggered. I know.....i know...i shouldn't have bought the staggered in the first place, but those OEM 19" look just so damn good! :-)

honestly, if you don't drive all that aggressively or "spirited," even the staggered tires will last you a long time. my friend has an IS and she's driven over 30k miles and 3 yrs., same tires and still has plenty of tread left.
You might squeeze 30k out of a staggered set up but that last 10k miles sucks. I got 28k out of the oem 350Z tires. At 19k on the G35s the noise is a pita. My experience on my G and Z has been that around 15k miles the tires become loud, induced by irregular wear from lack of rotation.
I'm in the process of moving away from staggered to the same oem rear wheel on all 4 corners. Hopefully less noise and longer wear.

I like having a staggered set-up, b/c then i don't have to remember to rotate them every other oil change... Sure it'll suck to buy new tires every 1.5-2 years, but I knew that when before i ordered my wheels...

If you buy one extra set of tires over the time you have the car,
IMO, I'd rather have the staggered setup.
Anyway, i know it is not a huge deal if i really have to get new set of tires, but if i can make $1300(4 tires) worth of tires last longer, it would be nice.
true...true. :-) Thanks Everyone!
Btw, does the tire on our cars wear out faster at the front or the back? My previous car was a front wheel drive, so the front worn out much faster. Just wondering how ours are since it is back-wheel drive. Thanks again.
