I can also agree that ceramic is the tint to get. I have ceramic all around including the windshield. At the time I got my ceramic installed it only came in clear and 41%. I had the installers double tint with the lightest privacy tint. So I probably have about 30% between both films.

See if they sell clear ceramic tint. I have it on my windshield with the suicide strip across the top. and I think the G still looks classy with it.

I talked to Kearny Mesa Infiniti and a local tint shop. They both discouraged the use of metallic tints because of interference with the Nav system, satellite radio, and the in glass antenna. They offered ceramic tints or just plain non-metallic tints for G35.

The local tint shop quoted me $260/ 7 windows for non-metallic and $360 for ceramic. I would go with the ceramic if money isn't an issue. It was explained to me that aside from metallic tints, ceramic tint was going to have the next best heat rejection.

You could take the chance and have it tinted metallic and later find out that it causes interference. Then spend some more money and have it removed and re-tinted. It just make sense. Why take the risk?

I don't think the strip across the top of the windshield is going to make a big difference in making your G35 look either worst or better. It's personal preference.

I don't think the fade tint is going to be a tip off to the cops. You can just look at the windows on any car and tell whether or not it has been tinted (exception is really light tint) especially if it's the darker tints. Cops aren't that stupid. The question is whether or not the cops in PA will let you slide with tint less than 70%.

Pay attention to the other cars driving around your city. What's their tint like? Are they in compliance with the tint laws in your city? This will give you an idea of how the cops in your city are enforcing the tint laws. If you see bunch of cars with tints less than 70% then chances are the cops are letting people slide. If you see the opposite, then the cops are by the book and you better adhere to the tint laws.

I have 15% and I'm pretty sure it's metallic (judging by the price's everyone has stated) but I've had zero interferance with the nav. I also put 50% on the entire front windshield, which is perfect because you can't even tell it's tinted.

I'm from around the Philadelphia, PA area and I recently got tint (20%) on my g35x (black on black). It's pretty dark, most areas like philly don't care too much about tint. It's just certain towns that make it a big deal. Not sure exactly how Erie is about it, but you might want to go with 35% so it won't be as dark.

Thanks for the reply, I actually just got it done over the weekend and went with 48% on the sides and 40% on the back window. Unfortunatly, my part of town the cops don't have too much better to do then to sit at stop signs and setup speed trabs. It sure seems like the economy and lack of funds really bring out the tickets, so I didn;t want to chance it even though I love the look of 35 so much better. I will post pics after I get her cleaned up.

i went with 42% (HO ceramic 40), 50 is a little on the light side even w/ a black interior.

I generally don't go below 40 unless it's legal. w/ 40 it's def a shade darker, but you can still see in normally in the sun.

have to go w/ ceramic.

LOL... No, that's the Stillen front plate bracket, designed to mount into the tow hook hole. It avoids drilling into the front bumper

I forgot to mention my tint level in my last post.
MA state limit is 35%. The shop installed a 40% Huper Optik Ceramic Tint and I just had it checked by a MA State Police unit this weekend.... it came up as 36%.
Barely legal
I wish it was a tad darker, but I love the look and protection it provides.

I got the same thing as Aeson except 30%. HO is definitely the way to go. As far as I know, it wont degrade over time and turn purple on you.
