Front Lip Ground Clearance

For those of you with the oem front lip installed, did it noticeably reduce your ground clearance in the front? Any measurements with it on would help as I'd love to install one, but I have to worry about getting in and out of some pretty large slopes in this area without tearing the lip off.

I dont think there is anything to worry about unless your car is dropped.

There is no loss of height with the lip installed.
The only thing it changes is your approach angle, and that's not much different at all.
That's one of he really nice things about the lip. It adds so much to the look of the car with none of the worries.

As for measurements... what model are you driving and do you have a drop?
The measurement will differ from car to car.

Do it.. do it!

lol, so tempting. The approach angle is part of the problem though, I have to enter/exit some pretty large slopes just getting into parking lots. Most require me angling the car as much as possible just to keep from scraping now, but I may take the chance if it doesn't change the angle much.

It's an 07 G35x sitting at stock height.

The only loss of ground height is if you install the journey lip on the sport bumper.

With my sport lip, the only time I touched was on a a steep approach. (I'm lowered)
It wasn't the lip that made contact though, it was that 3/4" lip underneath that touched.

....so I would have touched even w/o the sport lip.

Stock height, you can drive that thing pretty much anywhere.
I have fairly big speed bumps at work and a VERY steep driveway that is flat at the top and bottom, which causes some interesting challenges.
I'm still at stock hieght and have never had any clearance issues with my lip. The only time I've had an issue is at my daughter's dr's office. The exit has a huge drop to the road.
My lip has never touched going in, but one exhaust tip did touch coming out one day.

You won't have any issues clearing with the lip unless you're already having clearance issues now.

Since the thread is about lip clearance does anyone know how much lower the Kenstyle lip is from the front bumper. It certainly looks lower then the sport lip height.

ok hold on,
you guys are saying that:
the lip doesn't give you any less cearance at all and doesn't lower the bumper at all?

if that's the case, wow!

Depends on how it is measured.

Technically speaking, there is little to no change in vertical clearance, but the lip is extended FORWARD. As forward length is increased, it is more likely to impact the sloped ground sooner than a car with no lip.

That is exactly true Terry, the vertical clearance is the same. It does affect the approach angle a small amount.

Would these comments about the vertical clearance being the same as stock be true for all lips?

I am particularly interested in the UTR lip.

^ no just the oem. normally, front lips do drop the bumper (less clearance)
