No, I think he's referring to just pushing the reset button on the dash that resets the trip time, avg mpg, miles traveled, etc. Not resetting this will cause your MPG to avg over a much longer time frame and may not reflect how you've been driving recently. I always reset mine for any trip over 300 miles just to see what I'm truly getting for that particular drive.

No, I keep track of mileage and such outside of the car. I wouldn't trust the cars numbers.

As for the light going on too early...sorry if I gave that indication. Honestly, I"m not sure if I've seen the light on the gas gauge go on. I usually fill up at 1/4 tank, just out of habit. Actually, I think I've seen the light once.

Ive done the calcs and our 07, and now our 09, have been really close in actual calculations compared to my own calcs.

Very impressed w/ the new 09 MPG, we got 30.3 for our latest 230 mile trip

I have 07 G35S A/T and i do more city than hwy and my avg on full tank is way below 300 miles. I am technically averaging 13 to 15 mpg. I drive normal on all weekdays and lil pushing on weekends. I can keep drving until dash mpg says xxx or sthg like that and i'll be around 280ish miles.
i do not know if there is a problem or not. But it doesn't look right.

no, 13-15 mpg sounds about right for me.

My last 10 tanks:
13.8mpg
13.7mpg
13.9mpg
14.7mpg
18.7mpg
22.9mpg
14.3mpg
13.7mpg
14.2mpg
14.5mpg

That's a total of 2,075 miles and 117 days.
