Current G for e46 m3 ?!

So i've been MIA for awhile on this forum and did some stuff over around early july, but havent really posted up the progress. Seemed to have some ideas of selling the G and go for a used e46 m3 for around the same price cus I'd really like a MT and a thought a little more go power would be fun ? i'm still not sure if it would be a downgrade or an upgrade with a little higher mileage and around 2-3 years older? i've always dreamed of owning those ///m's and they're mostly at a affordable price now too. haha well lemme know what you guys think ?! Sorry for bad picture quality .. its from my camera phone. Comments and requests are welcomed really !

Currently at a little less than 25k miles w/ 5 year and 70k warranty. How much do would you think i can get ?

- G37 Wheels
- H&R Sport Springs
- Tints all around
- Blacked Roof
- Painted Tails
- Painted Diffuser
- Blacked Grills
- Headlight Housing
- Stillen Cat-back Exhaust System
- Stillen CAI

You're going to trade your G for an older car with more miles and less reliability?
If it makes you happy, I suppose.

BMW out of warranty = $$$$$

I'd never go and trade a car for an older one and more milage.

But it is your money and your happiness.

Also the E46 I've seen on the track only was 13.25 @ 1/4 mile. That was the only E46 M3 I've seen.

Keep in mind that you will probably get less money out of your car because of the mods you made. Most dealers will be scared to death of it. Personally, I think it is a great looking car but most dealers aren't car guys and wont appreciate it. If you are planning on selling it yourself I would try to advertise it nationally, as someone may see it and just have to have it.

I recently bought my G and the E46 M3 was something on my list I wanted to check out. I ended up going against it because of the reliability vs. our G's as well as the higher miles. I personally wouldn't change a thing if I could go back. I do have to agree with Matt though, if you think you would be happier with the M3 then don't give it up to the dealer and try to sell it locally.

Is it my screen or do you have pink hello kitty band-aide's on your bumper??

And as for the M, i would not downgrade in this case.

haha, this is oh so similar to my Trade my G for an EVO Thread...

It`s a tougher choice for you though, the m3 is definitely more refined than the Evo is. But you`ll miss the G, i`m glad i still have mine.

and hell yea, maintenance and repair costs will be something to consider.

Bmw offers scheduled maintenance for 4 years(?), and they charge you out the butt after that. Mercedes is the exact same way. we have 2 smart cars at work we take for service, a standard service costs like close to $200, the `Major` services hit $7-$800 easy...crazy

Weigh the pros and cons , it`s not always JUST what makes you happy unfortunately. Unless you are lucky enough to have limitless money, being reliable and responsible are big factors..at least for me...

LOL, what a good eye you have .. yes they are hello kitty bandaids my girlfriend barely kissed the wall while reversing and she bandaid it up as a sorry haha long story x_x

and my main concern for this trade was i regretted getting a 5AT ever since 07 and i couldnt justify doing a $3,000 top notch manual conversion. i just melted driving my friends e46 down the highway. If anything I'm pretty sure i would give it up to a private/local buyer and then lay down cash for the m3. I'll probably give it a little more time before i do anything. = l

^ considering your reasoning i would say go for it cause you seem pretty set on this trade, however IF you are only bummed about the tranny then you might able to find a manual G35 with your liking of packages i would rather do that trade than this considering long term plans and reliability.

I did something similar about 6 weeks ago, sold our 07 G35 for a
02 BMW 745Li. Below is the pic of the 7 series I picked up. The Beamer seemed to be a great ride w/ 22" Asantis and very clean inside & out. Had about 100k though and obviously no warranty. Drove it for about a month and on a long trip to Vegas decided that this was going to be an eventual money pit. I took it to Desert BMW in Vegas and they pretty much confirmed my suspicions w/ a laundry list of high dollar repairs that will be necessary in the near future. Items such as front end arms & bushings, a trunk motor pump on its' last leg, a tranny w/ questionable "quirks", an intermitant headlight short. I also replaced the water pump & frt/rear brakes right away (the seller covered those though).
I'd NEVER by a BMW without a warranty now that I learned the hard way. I wish you well if you pull the trigger. Oh yeah, we ended up driving home a new 09 G37 from Vegas

Very Sleek car..definetly a step up in size from the G. I think those 7s look especially sick in black. But probably a good financial decision selling it before the big bills started to show up, a bmw out of warranty is definetly something to watch out for
