Driver seat cracking

New member, 1st post. Just bought used '07 G35x sedan 38k miles still under warranty. Noticed the driver seat side bolster as you get in has the vinyl cracked in several spots and the foam is broken down where you slide into the seat. You only notice the cracking when you push down on the seat bolster. Only the top covering on the seats is leather- the sides are vinyl. Been to 2 local Maryland dealers and both service managers said not covered by warranty. Had a leather repair guy look at it and he thought it should be covered. Anybody had or heard of this problem? Thanks.

I can't speak for others, but I've had my 07 G35S for over 3 years now and the seats are in great shape. There are creases in the side bolsters, but definitely not cracking. You have to keep in mind that leather is natural skin, which will definitely crease/wrinkle over time.....which is very normal. If not conditioned regularly they will definitely crack. I suspect that the previous owner never treated the leather during his/her ownership.

Prior owner must have been bigger than the average bear.

It's a wear and tear item, not warranty. If you keep the leather cleaned & conditioned with decent products and sit ON the seat rather than sliding into the seat, the leather will wrinkle -- but not crack or tear.

The leather is not top quality stuff, this is an entry level car for the brand in a very cost-competitive market segment.

Keep leather conditioner on it as much as possible to keep it from getting worse.
