Mine lock as well if you leave the car running and walk away.
I just wish that the car would shut off if you put it in drive and you don't have the FOB on you. Just to prevent theft.

Ahm that's why you are locking it. If you leave your car open and you are not there that isn't really preventing theft does it? They can take anything out of the car. LOL It isn't hard to push a buttom when you get in and out You have to touch the handle anyways. On my other cars if I start up the car I have to use the manuall key to unlock the doors. Now that's a little annoying. To push a buttom not at all.
This is funny when this is our biggest problem with the cars.

Wait ... how did you guys get your cars to auto-lock if you get out (w/ikey) leaving the motor running? Mine just beeps and keeps running with the door(s) unlocked.

You can lock it before you close the door with the inside lock or the outside lock on the door. You can't use the fob. But there is no point to use it anyways. It would defeat the purpose of having a fob in your pocket all the time.

Actually, you can use the fob. Everyday on my way home from work I stop and get the mail. When I get out, sometimes I push the button on the door and sometimes I push the lock button on the fob when I pull it out to use the mailbox key. I get three beeps to tell me the car is running w/o the ikey.

I think an Auto-Lock feature is a great idea, too bad it's not implemented. The car would automatically lock when the fob is out of range, regardless if the car is running or not. if the fob batteries dies, just use the door key. When would you ever want to leave your car unlocked? It also would be great for the absent minded; I sometimes I have to second guess myself, "Did I lock it or not".

I LOVE that you can leave the car running and locked. It's such a waste when you have to shut a car to run into a store or something for less than 30 seconds.

AND if you're not really supposed to leave your car in a place in front of a grocery store or something, I just leave it running with flashers - cuz really. Who's going to tow or ticket a car that's on? I'm hoping they just assume there's a person in the car or that I really must only be gone for 5 seconds

Wow! They TOW you that fast in Houston !!!. I thought Manhattan , NY was bad. LOL.... In NY, they wouldn't care if the car was running or not, they'd tow that sucker regardless. In NYC, that's $115 parking fine PLUS a TOW fee of $185.00 !!! And the inconvenience of going way accross town to go retreive your car - takes hours to do. All for the fun of driving in Manhattan and making a "mistake".... Anyway, If you lock your G (I have a 2007) and unlock your doors, and if you don't open a door within, i beleive it's 30 seconds, the doors and alaem reset automatically. Theft prevention feature. If you open any door within that time, then it's inapplicable. Never tried this with the car running though.
