Filter Recommendations

Correct - Do not over think. Not a bad idea to replace both the cabin and air filters (x2) at 15,000 miles (I've done mine twice)...I've been using the Fram CF10140 cabin with the baking soda/carbon combo (which I don't thinks makes any difference but they are $16.70-ish at Wally*Mart) and I use the NAPA Gold Air Filters (far superior construction to the Nissan-OEM - metal frame where the OEM is fiberboard). The part is NAPA 9362 (or FIL9362) and they are $10.29 (x2 of course). Basically $39 for all 3 filters and superior quality to the OEM.

Smoking FTL!!!

I change mine once a year and it's pretty clean and almost new looking when it comes out.
Definitely nowhere near that nasty.

I just took my original OEM filter out to inspect it (the second time) and its still good after 2.5years. A greyish area about 4x4" near the center and that's all. I just spray it with the same stuff I use on my sons hockey equipment. It kills odours and is odourless. No odours in the cabin yet.
I hardly ever use the AC, I suppose thats why it's still in good condition.

I got the K&N drop in filters to replace the OEM ones at 30,000 km. it is suppose to give you a bit more HP and slightly better mpg but not sure if that is the case as the improvement is marginal. The filters last for life so I figure if you intend to keep the car they are well worth it. Just clean it and oil it every 25,000 km or so. Still haven't changed the cabin filter. Got both filters for around $90.

Smokers have nothing to do with cabin air filters, that's only for the outside fresh air filtration so no dirt will come in from outside..

I heard the same about the smoker thing.

but having the AC on recycle doesn't that collect interior dust particles in the cabin filter?

+1 I put my K&N drop ins in after I had 15,000 miles and havent changed them since. I am now at 64,000 and am about to clean them for the 1st time. The in-cabin air filter here in the states cost me $13 at Pep boys and it works the same. It was easy to change it. all you do is take everything out of the glove box, pull the under cover off the bottom of the glove box area, pull the glove box, while it is open towards the passenger seat (that will take it off the hinge), pop off the slowing mechanizum , remove 6 screws from around the glove box area. Pull out the piece you removed the screws from and you should see the white environment control unit. Open it take out the old filter and put in the new (make sure arrows face the right direction). Put back on in reverse and your done. Takes about 15-20 mins.

Yes it's easy but still a PITA. Designers should consider that this should be a DIY for everyone and tools should not be necessary. My wifes 07 Odyssey cabin filter can be changed in 5 min without any tools.
On the other hand, I need a screw driver to remove the 4 screws to remove the engine air filter housing in the Honda. We just can't win.

Right you are Kool Year. This guy does nothing but promote auto parts way, perhaps he works for them. For my part I got the K&N filters at sucksquishbangblow.com, had them shipped to my friends house in the US and he drove them up here (he visits often). Autopartsway was more expensive I think ~$100 for the two filters versus ~$80.

^ some ppl just never learn... if the site was actually any good or somehow super unique and cheap then i would not complain, but this is a useless site and most items are actually more expensive....
