New to the Infiniti World, NEED HELP!
Hey everyone,
I've searched the Forum/FAQ's but still have a couple questions. I need a car I can put a good 200k before a major rebuild, as I drive about 20k a year for work. I've driven BMW's for years and loved them, due to corporate budget cuts, I need to get something cheaper, so I am looking at CPO V36 G's.
1. Do you think a G will hold up for 200k with routine maintenance?
2. Should I sacrifice performance and comfort to get a Jetta TDI for the same price (25k)?
3. Any major problems I need to be aware of?
Thanks for your help. Everyone seems cool around here.

Yeah, I know they aren't in the same class but the Jetta TDI's (new or used) cost the same as a used G. Just trying to figure out how much a TDI would beat me up on a 3 hour drive. This whole selection process is a headache let me tell you.
I had to drive a borrowed Jetta TDI when out of town. Could not wait to get back to my G. Experience just does not compare - the only way to feel the difference is test-drive both back to back. If mileage is an issue, the Jetta wins obviously.
1. The G might last 200k miles depending on the way your drive and routine maintenance, and maybe a new transmission. I am going to try to get at least 200k miles from mine and then move on.
2. The VW isnt worth it!!!! my girlfriend drives a 08 Jetta and it is so boring when ever i have to go with her, or drive her car somewhere.
3. regular synthetic oil changes, conservative driving, and staying on top of everything will go a long way for any car.

If you get a VW might as well find an electrician and be a friend of him. You'll need his help.

I am in the same boat, I will average 20 to 25k a year. I am looking for 150k+ to in the coming years. I plan to keep maintenance up and driving reasonable throughout my ownership.
After my research, I do believe 200k is obtainable.

Have driven Infiniti's since J30(93to 05) had 350,000 Km'3 (217,000mi) , engine was still perfect, body was starting to have problems ,then it hit a deer and was no more.More or less the same with a I30.
Currently have a 01 QX4 that runs great and an 07 G that I expect to easily last 200k.
My son has a VW and it has had multiple problems.

The g is a great car one of the safest cars on the road, great performance superior handling, tech friendly and reliable as long as you maintain it on time and correctly and you'd be riding in style over the vw. A draw back would be gas mileage if you're in stop n go traffic expect 18 mpg in city and 26 highway. Definately choose the G over the vw. Have you looked at other brands? Acuras are also pretty good for just commuting but they lack any performance soul. Hyundai makes nice cars also with 10 year warranty
