Turning in a lease: what tires?

My lease is up in August and I am almost getting down to the wear bar on the tires. The dealer is telling me that I have to turn the car back in with the exact same Bridgestone Potenza RE050. If I buy those tires now, I will have to probably replace them again before Aug. Is what the dealership telling me correct? Can I put another brand of tire on the car? I would like to find something that I could some mileage out of.

I have never heard anything about turning the car in with the same exact tires, I did hear about they have to be the same rating, V,Y, W,H...ect maybe Infiniti is different Idk

I am thinking the dealership is probably just trying to do what they can to generate extra revenue. I have always thought it was just the speed & load had to be exactly the same, but brand didn't matter. I have 3 dealers nearby, so I will check with them and drop it with one of them when the time comes... Meanwhile, I have 20K miles to put on my car before Aug!

Very Probable, but I think all they need to be is the same size and speed rating.

When we turned in Our Audi they did not care much about the tire brand but more of the tread depth. So It should be ok, but should wait for someone who knows 100% of call another dealer..ect or PM Rick or Tony at Riverside

oem or equivalent tires it has to have acceptable tire wear on it.

I would just buy whatever you like and if anything you can get a cheap used set with 5/32 left on it and return it.

Tell your dealer to screw his wife not his clients. He may enjoy it better. Not sure about the wife if he is ***** like this.

I think it depends more on Infiniti than the dealer. I know from leasing BMW's that there is a specified list of tires they will accept on lease returns. If you don't replace tires with something from that list they will replace them and charge you for them, or take away from the security deposit if you had any.

Call Infiniti financial services, they will tell you if there are any rules you need to abide by when it comes to replacing tires on a leased car.

from the Infiniti wear and use guide

It doesn't say anything about brand of tires. Just use an equivalent. I took this page from the Infiniti pre-return inspection pdf.

If your tires are still within the 1/8" tread depth you might consider new wheels & tires (if you plan on getting another Infiniti G) and just set aside your current stock wheels & tires until the day before you turn the car back in. You can then use your new wheels on your new G and just set aside the stockers again. That's if you would prefer a different wheel size or style

Good idea. However, I thought about that when I bought the car, but that was a slippery slope for me given my past. It would have started with the wheels and next thing you know, it would have been forced induction 6 months later. I found that I can get a set of tires shipped for $700 that match the oem specs, so it is a go for me.

I just turned my 07 in. You just have to get the exact size and speed rating, they DO NOT have to be the same brand.

I was thinking of returning my lease with snow tires. Guess that's not gonna fly after reading this post.

Okay, it looks like I found a set with the exact same speed and load rating for $700 shipped to my house. I think that is a fairly decent deal, so will be pulling the trigger on that with rainy season approaching down here in the Southeast.

I think you can get better than that. I was quoted a price of about $550 installed for a set here in Jacksonville, FL. I think it was at Tires Plus. Just call around to all your local shops. Sometimes places run deals, like buy 3 get one free.

Yeap I paid 155/tire installed here in Canada. We pay more here all the time. Dunlop signature series. Shop around and see what you get.
