Hi all - it seems that I either have a dead battery on my 07, or something is wrong. Haven't got around to putting another one in or getting it on the diagnostic, but are there any known issues from the 07's with dead batteries?

 

Hell yeah... do a search. I went through 2 OE batteries within 2 years and switched to an aftermarket one.

 

Covered under warranty? Defective?

 

They replaced the first dead one for free, even though it should have been prorated. After the 2nd one died, I just said to hell with the OE battery. The coupe definitely has battery drain issues--they have a TSB for it. Not so for the sedan, even though many here have had theirs die pre-maturely. The dealer checked it out twice and found nothing wrong with the charging or power draw. They were going to check it out a 3rd time but by then I had a powered sub and they refused to look into it. The coupe TSB mentions replacing a evap vent control solenoid. Some speculate it draws power intermittently with the car off. There is a separate TSB for it to replace it for a new model for any reason. Unfortunately, my dealer refuses to respond to just a TSB and says I must have a problem to report. And of course they refused to look at the problem because of the sub...so I paid out of pocket and installed the new solenoid myself. So far no issues.

Nobody knows for sure what the problem is. Some people report not driving their car for a month and it will start right up. I leave my car for a week to 10 days and it is dead or dead enough not to start.

 

My sedan's battery drains and won't start the car if I don't drive it for ~week to a week-and-a-half. There's usually enough juice for the power locks and interior lighting, but the engine won't turn over.

Got the battery checked out. Reported that nothing was wrong. I bought a portable jump starter since I have to jump it so often (one every few months).

 

went through 2 in a year. First one died while I was driving...

they replaced both of them. Now I remember to remove my cell phone charger. lol

 

I thought my accessory ports (cigarette ports) were the culprit too, but I had nothing plugged in. From working on some of the electronics, I found that these ports aren't active until you either start your car or put it into accessory mode (i.e. if your car is off, so is anything plugged into these ports). Phantom drain sucks.

 

i dont know but when i had it tested for energy drain (overnight after the 2nd replacement) it showed a drain from somewhere but they wanted to keep it a little while longer...

I took my cell phone charger with me and then they didnt see anything and they kept it for 2 days.

 

hmm alright, I think I'm just gonna skip the OEM process and get an aftermarket battery. Sounds like the OE ones are crap.

If this one drains, then we know there is a draw issue, I guess.

^ i changed to aftermarket 2yrs back and have had NO problems ever since even with a 2 week standing period where the car was never even started and even have an aftermarket alarm that draws current while standing.

So i concluded that the OE batteries are crap!!!

 

My OE just went dead. Just went and got a DieHard Platinum. It was close by. I was going to get the gold but 70 bucks got me more CCA and I had the money so there ya go.

 

I also changed to aftermarket (yellow top) last month when my OE died.

 

I have an 07, battery died, they pro-rated the new one. Didn't really have an explination on why it drained although we did move from AZ to CO and the heat while in AZ may have had something to do with it.

 

so what do you guys recommend for an aftermarket battery? coz mine just died yesterday lol is duralst any good? or are they all rpetty much the same? sorry first time this shiet has happened to me.

 

Do any of you experiencing the dead/drained batteries leave plugs in your power sockets/cigarette lighters such as cell phone chargers, ipod adapter/power, etc. I have heard alot about newer cars will run power to those items even when your car is off. I have not tested this theory myself as I rarely keep anything plugged in.
