08 Key Stolen-What to do

the key to our 08G was stolen this weekend. The Bastages broke ito my truck and stole a lot of things like my girls purse which had the key in it.

It is the intelligent key.

I saw on ebay you can get a newish key for $30-$40. Can I program this myself?

I will need to get the key recut too.

Damn the thieves!

I would talk to your dealer. you will have to have them program it anyway. you may want to look into getting the Coding changed since the key was stolen... i wouldnt want some criminal running around with a key to my car.

Ya I would go to the dealer ASAP and get it changed since whoever stole her purse probably has her license with your address on it too....

I've been quoted $350 for a replacement fob (only had one with the car when I bought it) - is this a decent deal or am I better off getting one off ebay?

Get one off of ebay ~$40 but not just any infiniti i-key, MAKE SURE that its the same FCC ID i believe (someone correct me if im wrong).

And then take it to dealer to program which i believe is about $100. So total ~$140-150 instead if $350.

Are you making an insurance claim. If so you might include the cost of the iKey. You may not be able to if its not 'Part of the vehicle' i.e. attached.

Have your car re-matched to the existing i-key even if you do not plan to replace the stolen i-key.

The stolen key will no longer work because ALL keys for the car must be present at the time of programming. If you are planning to replace the stolen ikey, now would be the time to do so to save on programming cost.

i lost a key :x.. and got it replaced.. They had to have my other key to reprogram it also.. I think the total deal cost ~180 @ Major Infiniti in Kansas City. I can check when i get home but I'm pretty sure it was less tahn $200 including key cutting/programming and the actual equipment..

Wow, for the difference in price I could actually drive the 650 miles to Kansas City and back. Without the sales tax I'd be up maybe $2.
