How to setup your Iphone to work with the G35

Does anyone know how to set up an iphone to make it so you can change songs or view playlist on the dash? I bought an aux cable with red and white plugins yesterday and I'm able to connect it to my iphone, but i still have to select the songs manually on my phone which is kind of annoying especially since it doesn't have a stand. Thanks for any input.
BTW i'm new just registered and bought my g yesterday. Ownage.

Unless you have an 08+ with the iPod integration, it's not going to happen.
I change songs on my iPhone, not through the Navi or steering wheel controls

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the forum!

The aux cables have no way of transmitting data from the dash to the iphone/ipod. As stated above, the 08+ have ipod integration built in to the console right above where you plug in the aux cables. Infiniti makes a special wire that goes from the console directly to the ipod and plugs into the same place on the ipod where you would plug it in to charge or sync. That connection allows data to be transmitted to the ipod to control it from the dash. I am not sure what year your car is but if it's an 07, there may be a kit available to do it as well??? Not sure.

The 08 iPod interface works 50% on my iPhone 3Gs:
- it will not charge the phone
- it defaults the iphone to airplane mode

But, yeah, you can use the steering wheel buttons to select the songs. I think it's better to just set up your playlists and use the aux input.

Just my 2cents.

as far as iPod goes, I have too many Artists (160gb) that it freaks out and only lets me select by playlist. Harness has always charged it.

for iPhone: You're correct bfree it doesn't "charge" the phone but it doesn't drain the battery either. The voltage isn't enough for the iPhone to trigger the battery charging icon, but it's still providing enough power. As far as airplane mode goes... you can just select to NOT turn it on airplane mode and it works perfectly.

for iPhone 4: I will let you know in 2 days!

spoke with GROM audio via email.

They stated that th 07 G35s Sedan with Navi should work (any nissan/infiniti with a button labeled CAT should work) AND audio info will be displayed on the Navi screen. Also, steering wheel controls will work.

So, I'm gonna be a guinea pig and order one. I am only getting the USB variant, since I only want to be able to use my 64GB USB stick

They have what appears to be a decent return policy, so if it doesn't work, I can send it back... minus the install hours, of course.
