2007 vs. 2008 G35 sedan PLUS Carfax question

Hello,

I am deciding between two very similar G35 sedans to purchase. One is a 2007 and one is a 2008. The 2007 is about $2500 cheaper (incl. taxes, etc) so I am leaning that way. But is the price difference small enough that I should get the newer car?

Also, there is something confusing about the AutoCheck/CarFax report on the 2007. I'm having trouble figuring out what happened to this car. The report reads...

03/20/2007 VEHICLE MANUFACTURED AND SHIPPED TO DEALER
04/28/2007 ODOMETER READING FROM DMV
05/16/2007 SAN DIEGO, CA - REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL (Leased Vehicle)
05/26/2007 TITLE (Lien Reported)
09/10/2008 REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL (Leased Vehicle)
03/29/2010 REPORTED AT AUTO AUCTION AS MANUFACTURER VEHICLE
04/22/2010 ODOMETER READING FROM DMV
04/30/2010 REGISTRATION EVENT/RENEWAL
05/09/2010 TITLE (Lien Reported)

Should I be concerned?

I greatly appreciate any insight. Thank you for the consideration.

Sounds to me like it someone leased it for 36 months then it went to auction as an off lease and someone bought it earlier this year and financed it. I assume you are buying it (would make you the third owner). Wonder why the current (second owner) is selling after only 2 months of ownership?

Also, it says reported at auction as manufacturer vehicle. Could this be someone at a dealer leased it or someone involved with Infiniti? Not sure, but I dont think it would keep me from buying it if it was at a reputable dealer (and/or certified) and I was happy with the condition and the way it drove.

The dealer tried to make it seem like the dealer was the 2nd owner, though this sounded strange to me because there was a lien on the second buyer. Or at least that's I'm interpreting the report.

I love the car and want to buy it but was confused by the report.

Thank you for your reply.

Check the time in service date and calculate how much warranty each has left. The 2008 will likely have an extra 6 -18 months of warranty over the 2007.

Like Jane says...mileage and which one will have the longest remaining warranty.
I wouldn't buy either until I had my own mechanic inspect them too. A lot of people drive the crap out of them and don't maintain them either.
