Composite video input cables... what use?

Hey guys I was just wondering what are you all using your composite (red/white/yellow) video input for? I just never came across a thread with anyone posting or asking about this, or how they use it.

Did a search and didn't find anything either, wired...

Just go to your local electronics store. Best Buy, Frys or etc.. Search for RCA to Aux cables there you go.

Heres what I use http://scosche.com/products/sfID1/21...productID/1440

alot of people use it for ipod audio while driving, some like to watch movies, some hook up gaming consoles and others use it for backup cameras and for external navigation units.

I have an 07 so I bought the RCA to aux cable for my ipod. After using it for a couple days I returned it. It doesn't charge your ipod obviously, nor does it turn off when the radio is off. Having to skip songs by picking up the ipod got annoying as well. Now I use the Compact flash card, it's awesome. I wish my car had ipod integration but having the compact flash makes up for it as it's practically the same thing.

I bought the USA spec iPod integration kit. Little tricky for initial set up, but never have to touch the iPod once its plugged in unless you choose the "iPod direct" mode.

Before I did the iPod integration I used this from Monster. It charges, provides audio and the iPod turns on/off with the car. Bought for $10 at a surplus store.

Now I only use the jacks if one of the kids wants to watch a movie which is probably 3 times in almost three years.

Also for those who watch movies while driving, how exactly did you BY PASS that video warning which doesn't let you watch while you drive???

So you have RCA to AUX cable and you got that charger at the same time to charge your ipod?

Bypass cannot be discussed on the G35driver forum. You have to search the internet for that.
There is a 3.5mm jack to also plug in your 3.5mm/RCA cable. It is in the part of the cable that connects to the iPod.
If you have an 07 with the Navigation pkg you will have a CF slot below the right AC ****.

Ok about the by pass, wasn't aware of that.

Well mine G doesn't have a Nav pkg. I don't have a 3.5mm jack just the composite imput links.

Sorry I wasn't clear. The 3.5mm jack is in the Monster Cable I showed above...Not in the cars.

Well my G doesn't have a 3.5mm jack so I guess RCA to AUX is my only choice huh? or you can use a cigarette lighter to 3.5mm jack and play ipod audio/video as well??? No composite input necessary?

I'm trying find something to play videos mostly rather then audio from my Ipod to the G.

I think the Monster only charges the ipod, you still probably need AUX to audio jack. I haven't tried playing videos when I had the cable but I'm pretty sure you can in AUX mode. I have NAVI though, so I'm not sure how non-navi works.

I will say again as I didnt make it very clear in post #8
- the Monster Cable has a 3.5mm jack in it for YOUR 3.5mm to RCA cable (separate). Plug the 3.5mm end of your RCA cable into the Monster cable and the RCA plugs into the RCA inputs in the console.

Edit: I'll add a pic in a minute...
