Backup camera quick question

Can any one confirm that using this interface unit will allow me to use my g35x sedan with navi with an aftermarket backup camera? I know that you can mod the moving sensors to use a camera with the non navi version but with the navi version you cant do this.. will this unit do what I want?

nice! lol, i love it when you go from zero to famous overnight! ha ha! thank god for shop manuals! lol.

you want the PAC VCI-NIS2, same price different harness. the NIS2 is for 2007 G35's and 2008 G35's/G37's. it's a plug and play module, with little other wiring required (just for power, ground and two connections for the parking brake and reverse power).

check out my thread here for info:

if you have any questions let me know!

Cheers!
Bob

is your car the navi version or non navi? Because this unit seams like it is only an auto switcher and not a device to bypass the parking video input. thanks

my car is non-navi. you are correct that it has an auto-switcher built in for a reverse camera but it also has a second input on it which you can switch to at any time. it can be used for a dvd player, xbox, second camera, computer, whatever. i use this input to display the output of a computer i put in the car, i only use it to run "garmin mobile PC" navigation software right now.

it does not bypass my parking brake safety feature, correct.

So, This will not effect my navi positioning correct? With the wire snip mod it messes with the navi reception.. do you know any one who has used this with a navi version of the car? what wires do you have to splice into for this to work?

it definitely won't mess with the navi reception, mainly because it physically does not intercept the VSS signal or anything like that. this unit only intercepts the video signal and just passes everything else through.

that being said i don't know off hand if it will work with the navi unit since the wiring is slightly different. i will look into it for you but i also recommend emailing PAC. i'll pull the PAC plug and play harness out and just take note of whether or not ever pin has a wire on it. if every pin has a wire you're good as long as the RGB pins for the nav and non-nav are the same.
