Will Infiniti warranty a fogged up headlight

My passenger side headlight is getting a little bit foggy, it almost looks like the clearcoat or UV coat is peeling or something. Car only has 10000miles on it and its a 2007. It was sold in Febuary of 07 so roughly 3 years and 6months old. Is this something thats' covered by the manufactuer's warranty? I don't think headlights should be peeling UV coat this soon. I looked into purchasing one on my own but damn they are expensive!!!

What uv coating are you talking about? It is just polycarbonate or some other plastic. If you have small cracks (ie. crazing), they will definitely warranty it. I would go in to ask though. Anything that is a defect in materials is fair game within the warranty period.

Yeah idk what kind of protective coating is on the headlights. I'm talking about oxidation, I can tell it's just going to get worse.

10k miles on a 3 year old car? Do you know the history of the car? If the headlight was taken apart it won't be under warranty for sure.

cracks can be fixed by warranty?!?
wow... I really hope so because I have a crack on one of my headlights right in the center.
I'm thinking it's from a rock on a highway but... I'm definitely gonna ask

Cracks from road hazards won't be covered. I am talking about numerous fine cracks in the plastic that is a materials defect. Search "headlight crazing" to see what I'm talking about. The headlight will be smooth on the outside where the cracks are--it is not from impact. I had my passenger side headlight replaced under warranty because of this. My driver's side shows some cracks but not enough to replace.

Nice

I'd take it in. If it wasn't modified at all it should be covered ubder warranty.

I'm guessing he just let The Fresh Prince take it out on weekends.

It is best you ask the dealer. Some dealers will replace it and some wont.

only 10k on a 07'? Wow!!

theres a TSB

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/

Under summary it states,

"INFINITI: EXTERIOR LAMP FOGGING. WATER IN THE EXTERIOR LAMPS. THIS IS GENERALLY NOT DUE TO A DEFECT. ALL CURRENT EXTERIOR LAMP ASSEMBLIES ARE VENTED TO THE ATMOSPHERE (NOT SEALED). MOISTURE IN THE AIR SOMETIMES TRAVELS INTO AND OUT OF THE LAMP ASSEMBLY THROUGH THESE VENTS. NECESSARY TO ALLOW FOR EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF AIR FROM TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS (WARMER OR COLDER) WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE LAMP. CERTAIN ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS MAY CAUSE MOISTURE TO CONDENSE. FOGGING/CLOUDINESS SHOULD DISAPPEAR OVER TIME WHEN THE LAMP IS IN A DRY ENVIRONMENT. *PE UPDATED 7/28/10. *PE"
