30k service questions

Well its time for the 30k service on my 2007 G35s Sedan...

but whats included just seems like stuff I can do myself...

Wipers... have new ones
rotate tires... cant its staggered
in cabin air filter... they want $155

so the things besides these are!

trans flush
coolant flush
fuel induction service

can anyone shed light on these procedures and if they are something i could do myself!!

or if they are important!

Without sounding rude, if you have to ask if you can do it yourself, then you probably want to let the service guys do it.
It's not hard work, but I'm not sure what your skill is.

well its not rude and its not about skill I have enough its about tools... not sure if a lift is needed and the question was more is the 30k service really important as in the coolant flush trans flush and fuel service flush... if I can narrow it down to just having them do 1 or 2 it would save some cash..

I understand. A lift isn't really needed, but it definitely makes the job easier. If you have a jack and jack stands you can do it.

You can do the in-cabin air filter yourself. The filter itself only cost me 14.59 from Amazon. This filter is better than the OEM because it is a carbon filter.

I did it myself, and it only took 10-15 minutes max.

Save your money and don't go to the dealer for the in-cabin air filter change. It's so easy. All you need is a Philips Head Screwdriver. You can search online on how to do it.

Here is the filter I used:
Amazon Amazon

Those dealerships are really trying to rip you off for the in-cabin air filter replacement. I was quoted 30 for the labor + parts at my local mechanic and I still thought that was too expensive. I've never heard of a dealer asking for $155 for the air filter replacement. Most I've heard of in my area was around $100...They're really ripping you off.

I would have the stealership do everything else- coolant flush, transmission service, etc. I only try to touch things I know I can handle without getting dirty or breaking things by accident.

Here is the DIY:

I'm still new to the G35 world, but the one thing I usually let the dealer do is tranny fluid changes or flushes. I usually opt for flushing. I'm at 38k so looking to do it soon. Is the 30k service a tranny flush or just fluid change?

I guess I'd ask them how many ATF quarts they're using. If it's just 3-4 then you'll know it's just a drain & fill. Good question though, I'll be needing this soon, if you find out let me know

I wouldn't bother with fuel induction service.

30K jobs ? Actually it's not that much.
Cabin filter for $155 ? Wow That's too expensive.
I did it by myself and cost $20 fram cabin filter.

At mileage of 36k maintenance,
I change ATF,Tires,Air filters,Cabin filter, checked up brake pads.
Actually, ATF should be changed at every 30K in manual.
I changed ATF around 36K. It cost $80~90 in a repair shop. I just bought NISSAN MATIC-J (now it's replaced with MATIC-S, this is new one).
If you want to buy the ATF and change in repairshop, it will be cheaper but mechanic won't like it. You know what I mean? Ask their price and deal it. less than $100 should be cheaper than dealer. VQ35HR requires approximately 6 quarts of Matic-S.
Induction? I have never heard that. Is it ThrottleBody cleaning? As I know, after 07 infiniti vehicles, they don't have fuel filter, so you don't worry about it. timing belt? It has timing chain, you don't need to change.
Coolant flush? You don't need do that. Just check it. Its level and whether it is dirty or not. If you usually drive in local, just check brake pads. When you change two times of front brake pads, you just change rear brake pads once. That's basic idea. All cars are similar. Nothing different but just a few new technology. You just need to know basic knowledge. If you have basic knowledge of cars, mechanics can't rip off you but dealer can do.
I think Dealers are evil. I just change brake pads my 07 g35 sport in my parking lot. When I ask dealer, they want $395 for each axle, to sum up almost $800. If they want $300 for both front and rear brake pads, I would pay and change them. Now I don't visit dealer anymore. Make you sure have some basic knowledge of car. I think it will reduces your cost for cars more than $10,000 in your whole life.

I changed these stuffs for my 60k ran g35 sport
cabin filter - $13
air filter*2 (vq35hr has two throttle body so it requires two air filters)= $14~16
wipers (OE mitsuba was very good but i can't find so i bought cheaper ones) = $22
brake pads for both front, rear (because rear brake pads made squeeze noise) = $80
scratch tough up paint = $14

Actually, I visited dealer twice between 2007 and 2008.
First time was changing engine oil, It was regular, I paid $67 (At that time, I noticed how bad potenza re50 stock tires. It couldn't climb up just 20~30 degree snow covered road.)
Second time was schedule maintenance I paid $450 but they just change cabin filter and washing the car. After that I don't visit dealer even if any problem happen.

I hope you make skillful auto mechanic friends. Ask them and fix your car at their shop.

Do your own cabin filter.

If you have a 6spd MT, it's a drain/refill of the trains with gear oil. Really easy. If it's an AT, a drain refill should be sufficient. If you do a flush, do flush per the FSM OR the Honda way...

Coolant, not sure. I thought we had the long life coolant, which is good for 100K miles or 6 years. Probably a good idea to do a drain/refill after 3 years or 45K miles.

Fuel induction service? Go to an auto parts store and buy 2 bottles of Techron which treats up to 20 gallons of gas and call it the day. Might not be a bad idea to redline the engine once a month, just to make sure you don't have carbon build up..
