G35 voice controls and navigation issues

I know when the 2008 nav system came out they reduced the number of voice commands because it was confusing people. Why then does ford have over 10000 voice commands and no one is confused?

Also why does the nav go to the furthest possible city when searching for an address?

Its there any way to fix this with an update or even a way to hack the system for better functionality?

You can not hack the system as of now to change its functionality, or not that i know of.

As for the address searching, there is a button that says something like "nearest" or something after you get the list from the search that then sorts the addresses from closest to furthest.

As for the voice commands, i have the 07 which has the extra voice features and i have never had any issues with them and use them quite often for calls, climate control and especially for complete address input when im driving, since the nav locks out all touchscreen commands.

Also i dont think you can get the extra commands from 07 in your 08, in fact infiniti even put out an update for the 07 guys to get the reduced commands that many here got, but i stayed away from it and am quite happy about it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I was aware of all of the above that'd why I have an issue. Why should I have to push a button to see the nearest places? That should be the default. I live in CT there is no reason I should get results in ohio first when I search for an address.

And are ford drivers more capable of understanding the many voicecommands of sync than infiniti owners? This its the only thing about this awesome car I don't like.

every now and then I have issues with the NAV not finding a road (waysa round that) or not knowing where I am (usually finds itself within a minute or so).

As for the voice commands...the stereo is about a foot from the steering wheel...I rarely if ever use the voice command feature.

I have an 08 S and wish I had the full VC. I hate that it does not let you put the default city/state and leave it until you change it. Saying "California" and "Los Angeles" EVERY time is a bit annoying.

Most people don't know that when you start the car and get the accept screen....all you have to do is push the button on the steering wheel versus reaching for the Nav unit.

All said - it's still a good unit.

^^ ha-ha I didn't know that either but I'm excused since it's only been 2 days since I owned her. I was wondering why that stupid thing pops up everytime and if there was a way to select "Don't ask me this again" like on computers. Hell I just came from a Yukon Denali with nav that didn't ask that on every start.
Thanks anyway for letting me know about the steering wheel button , I'm that guy that reached for the screen.
