07 G35X Warranty fix from dealer
I bought my 07 G35X about 3 weeks back from Manheim auction through a dealer with Premium,NAV,Tech & Wood grain trim. It has another 4 months or 6000miles of warranty left. What stuff do I need to get fixed from the dealer before the warranty expires ? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
My car battery died on me last weekend when I was waxing the car. I took it to Advance Auto parts and the battery check came out good. I added distilled water in the different battery cells as recommended in the maintainance guide in the manual.
Couple days back the fuel tank indicator came on so I stopped at Costco close by to get gas. When I filled the gas it would only take 14.5 gallon. Since the gas tank capacity is 20 gallon why would it take on 14.5. I dont think there would be a reserve of 5 gallons.

As far as warranty goes if the rubber/plastic trim around the steering wheel and interior door grab handle are original get that replaced. You will know as there will be lots of nicks underneath the volume button on the steering wheel and nicks on the door trim by where you grab the door to close it. Most dealers are replacing the trim pieces and installing a new steering wheel with new trim. I would check for any open recalls or TSB's that have not been addressed as well. I am sure others will chime in with some extra warranty items to check on.
As far as the battery did Advance Auto do a "load test" or just a voltage test. There is a big difference. I replaced a battery this summer in my boat that held a charge and came up with full voltage but when load-tested it came up with only 1/2 the CCA's. As far as fuel you will never see more than about 17.5 gallons when you fill up and that is on fumes at that point.

Hmm, I've never tried that....but I'm guessing there is a large reserve. I pay around $36 for gas at $3.15 a gallon when my meter shows 1/3 gas left. That's around 12 gallons for 2/3 a tank. That means the gauge will read empty when I have 12*3/2=18 gallons used. By my math, it looks like I get ~2 gallons of gas of reserve. Your gas meters may be off.
The OP said that he has 5.5 gallons for reserve. That's really off. Well, the good news is that you'll have more leeway when your meter says 0...

The car I bought was super clean from the auction. The steering wheel and door handle has lick a very small nick. But if they would change it under warranty due to peeling issue that would be great.
Advance Auto parts did a load test and the results came out good as he gave me the print out.

There used to be a TSB section on this forum somewhere. It's been awhile since I've been here but that will tell you a lot. Most that I remember off the top of my head have been mentioned. I had the gas tank one done on my car and that cured the similar issue described with fill up. Some '07 had the chipping happen quickly and bad, so if you don't have any yet you're prolly safe, but if you search around there may be a manufacturing date mentioned for the correction. G'luck on the ride!!
