Rear Bumper Clip

Good evening - I'm fairly new here and still getting used to my new (to me) '07 G35S. For the most part the car is in good shape, but I do think the rear bumper was resprayed at some point in the car's life (no signs of paint work anywhere else).

At any rate, the rear bumper sticks out ever so slightly on the left side of the car (think 1/8th of an inch or so...). It's not a big deal, but it annoys me a bit. I've talked with a local body shop that does a lot of work on Infiniti's and he tells me its the clip on the upper left portion of the rear bumper - says they wear out very easily, especially if you take the bumper off and put it back on, and sometimes for no reason at all.

Has any one had this happen? How hard is this to fix on my own? The clip itself is like $30. I'm not incredibly mechanical, but I'm capable of doing minor projects.

Thanks for the help in advance and happy Thanksgiving.

Body shop wants $110 parts & labor... I pointed it out to a service advisor once and he didn't really respond... I forgot to bring it back up when the car was at the dealer yesterday.

Same issue, same side here as well. Dealer said they would not fix it. Claimed there has been paint work, even though I know for a FACT there has not been. Funny because they told me they used a paint gauge to measure the back bumper versus the front bumper and hood. He said the back registered thicker. I asked him how he measured the front bumper and hood seeing as though there is a clear bra on it (yes on the whole front bumper and whole hood!)...silence on the other end. Makes me think they didnt even use a paint gauge for anything, he was just BSing. I didnt feel like arguing that day so just dropped it. I figured he probably felt like a dumb a$$ anyway.

Since then it has gotten worse. I might be willing to fix this myself for only $30 bucks and some of my time...
