heater coil

A month ago, I took my g35 to a dfw dealer for a clicking noise. The clicking seemed to occur during a certain RPM range. It was the heater coil. A coolant flush didn’t fix the problem, so the dealer replaced the heater coil.

When I got the car back, there were some problems. The clicking was gone, but I was now hearing a pressure type noise. Kind of like a faint turbo spoiling up or something. The carpet near the center dash was untucked. The manual shift **** was scratched. My ipod didn’t connect to the radio.

I didn’t leave the dealership without bringing the **** scratches to their attention. An appointment was set up for that. Then I called when I discovered the other problems. The main problem was the noise. The service advisor and mechanic said they didn’t hear the noise. That was strange. I drove with both guys and told them exactly when the pressure noise started. The carpet, ****, and ipod got fixed.

I knew the car was coming back to me with “couldn’t repeat problem” on the pressure noise. I had been back and forth to a dealer a few times. The day before I picked up the car, I got a standard letter from some manager. The letter invited me to call him if I had any trouble with the services. So, I called him. All I got was ambivalence. The car still got returned to me the next day with no action taken on the new pressure noise.

My friend also has a G35. I called him and asked him to listen to the engine. Am I losing my mind, or is there a funny noise when the RPM’s build. He noticed it right away. At least I wasn’t losing my mind.

I took the G35 to another DFW dealer. They also confirmed the noise. After a week, though, they told me that the noise was normal for the car. I don’t blame them either. Why should they re-do a heater coil job started by another dealer.

So, has anyone else had this issue with the heater coil? Also, the new shift **** isn't screwed on straight. Ugghh – I really don’t want to go back to the dealer for this. Will the **** be easy to loosen and straighten?

^ since you started hearing this noise after the service it could be something wrong but could it be a hissing type sound like most ppl have described here? if not then you might have a problem.

Thank you. I never read that thread, but some were describing the exact noise I hear. Maybe I was listening more intently when I got the car back for noises. I never noticed the noise before the heater coil problem. I think I'm getting used to the new sound, though.

there is a hissing kinda noise that the car makes (usually right under the car and is coming from the stock cats). that noise increases if you install HFC's or test pipes. If that is the noise then it's normal. You can hear it under light to moderate acceleration as well as deceleration.
