I wouldn't buy a 5 year old tire. There is actually a shelf life for tires believe it or not.

you are correct, but if it's a well kept tire you should be ok.

when purchasing new tires tho, I always make sure it's a 1-2 year old tire.

All I remember about your G is that your front bumper was 1" away from pavement. Hard to drive like that in Los Angeles. I am drop on Eibachs and I have trouble in a few driveways. By the way do you know where I could get a wheel alignment?

For a while, I got the transformer tires. They transform into slicks once they are wasted.

I totally agree, they are trying to pass a law on expiration dates for tires. MSNBC had an awesome undercover write up on this after so many fatalities caused by "old" tires still being sold. Despite the tread looking perfect, 5 year old tires are a no go for me. My life it worth more than saving a few hundred dollars. I always check the manufacturer date on all tires I buy.

i don't buy tires more than 1 year old. But that's just me. Most of the major tire places here don't even carry anything older than 6 months.
