Ordered my hypertech max energy sport programmer and....

The company (Streetside auto---not hypertech) sent me a used one! Box taped over like 5 times, cables not even tie-wrapped. How frustrating!

When I called them, they didn't offer an apology...just said they would send me a fedex label for the return.

Guess I'm better off saving the $300 anyway towards the FI exhaust....

Just had to vent!

And save it for an UpRev tune after the FI.

that is awful, but really if you only paid 300 thats about what you would pay for a used one. install it, check it out and if you dont like it uninstall and return. you may have actually come out ahead on this one.

Ya...I had a good coupon, but I was still pretty pissed to see a dirty hypertech unit sitting in the box! Next time I'll stick with forum businesses even if it costs a bit more.
I'm sending the unit back for a full refund.

I may not even do a tune like Uprev. I'm sure it is safe, but I've had back luck with mods+tunes...blew a motor in my 04 Lightning and a motor in my 05 SS Silverado. Well...it wasn't totally bad luck because the engines blew right after I sold the trucks. Both were dyno-tuned by reputable tuners. Maybe it wasn't their fault, but I'm getting gun shy!

Update it via your computer and install the tune. You will really like it. Drive around a bit to get a feeling for what it does. Then remove the tune and send it back to them. I'd insist on a brand new, unopened unit.

I thought about the advice to use the unit and decided, WTH...I got a good price so maybe I should try it. I updated it, and when I went to install it, it couldn't read the ECU.
I called tech support, and they said it is a known issue and they are working on it. I told them I'd hang on to it for another week before returning it, but I don't have my hopes up!
