I had 20's for almost 3 years. I recently switched to a light set of 18's since i switched jobs and now do a good bit of driving. I never had volks or any other light weight wheels...but my next set is going to be a very light set of 19's. I was amazed at how much performance i had been living without when i was on the heavier 20's. My 20x10 with tire came in at 72 lbs....my 18x9.5 with tire comes in at 50. Huge weight savings that i made a tremendous difference in performance.

The tire weight difference will not be huge!!!! It's a wider tire but smaller side wall

That doesnt matter. Smaller sidewall tires have more steel within them to keep the smaller sidewall more rigid. A 285/30/20 tire is going to weigh around 30-31lbs. My 245/45/18, which is the same diameter but only an inch or so less wide, weighs 21lbs.

To envied: I'm not trying to be mean but you are dead wrong on your info! 245/45/18 tires on average weight 27-28 pounds while 285/30/20 weight 30-31 pounds soo it's a 2 to 3 pound difference! Look up tire weights online and if u can find a 245/45/18 tire the weighs 20-21 pounds I'll buy u a set of them!

Oh yea you're right....my 18" tire weighs 25 lbs. I really dont know where i got 21 from haha My mistake. Regardless, my 20" wheel tire combo came in at over 72 lbs with a nearly bald tire. A 22lb difference in weight on all 4 corners made a tremendous difference. Not in just straight line performance but over all driving. The car corners better, brakes better, needless to say. The weight savings made the car feel like a whole different animal after switching to a lighter set up.

That is a very heavy rim!!! My rear wheel and tire combo is a 20 x 10.5 inch rim with a 285/30/20 tire and its 53 lbs.

The front is only 50lbs.

Yea it was heavy. It wasnt an expensive forged wheel or anything. It was a wheel that looked nice haha. When i weighed it i couldnt believe it either haha. It was a Vertini wheel, which a number of people on this board run as well. Thats why my next set of wheels are going to be a nice, forged, lightweight set of 19's.

I had 20s and I didn't really hate them until I rode my friends G which was stock. The 20s are too rough. They were 8.5x20 245/35/20 and 10x20 275/30x20. Switching to 9x19 255/40/19 and 10x19 285/35/19. I'll let you know how much smoother it should be.

If you want it to be smoother just change your middle number to more rubber.

Gotta be careful w/ that one, could change your diameter more than the
+/- 3% and mess w/ your VDC & ABS readings, also could result in quite a speedo difference.
