Restore headlights and taillights?

How to restore headlights and taillights? Do I need to have service outside or can do it myself with any good quality product?

Appreciated your inputs!

my "dummy proof" method is to buy BlueMagic headlight lens restorer cream
here's a link

You wont get the same effect by hand then if you use a buffer. I bought a cheap $30 orbital buffer, and just hit the headlights with the cream and buffer, 10+ minutes each headlight (medium speed) on my camry, and those headlights look better than new.

If you use those kits with sandpaper, you remove the UV protectant and they will yellow out even faster.
