Outside Pillar Question

So awhile ago i got some scratches on the outside black pillar. I called Infiniti to see how much to replace them. They quoted my over $350 installed. I looked at the door and it looks like its just a sticker. Everywhere i have looked on the doors i only see the metal from the door behind it nowhere that something could be replaced, but Infiniti says otherwise. Anyone know anything about this?

How bad is the scratch? if this is the part i think you're referring to, then you should be able to buff most of it off.

All I currently have are these. Will try to get more later. The damage was caused by and ice scraper when someone went to clean my windows.

I had to replace the passenger side part on mines cuz some person had their keys in their hands when they went to grab the door on that place causing a scratch. You can't buff it out because it'll take the black color away leaving it very messed up. The part is called a "Tape" i should've done a DIY while i was replacing mines. you can get it at infinitipartsusa. cost about 20 bucks for each side. Its a pain when you gotta take it off because its really sticky. And tends to break apart. I had to use alot of soap and water to get the stickiness off and the bits that stayed on as well. The install was tricky too. You had to align it perfectly or else it'll come out crooked. Mines came out perfect. Again, if you get a scratch on that part dont bother fixing it. replace it. Ah forgot one more thing, you have to take out the top and bottom chrome trims to get access to the sections thats under those pieces.

I think I had something similar happen to mine^. I bought the car used, but there is a deep gash on the driver-side black trim. Its not overly noticeable, but it is annoying. I may have to get a quote from the dealer once I start getting this thing paid down.
