update nav or no?

infiniti is sending me offers to update my navigation software for $99. I have a 2007,, what are your thoughts on if this is worth it or not? I dont seem to have any trouble with the version I have now... at least not here on LA streets, maybe they havent changed much..

Also, after I bought the car last year I never continued the satelite radio subscribtion and I didnt have the traffic feature on my nav, and I think someone at infiniti told me that is why. Or am I wrong and does my Nav maybe just need an update to get the traffic feature?

has anyone done an update recently?

I did the update a few months back. Keep in mind that the Install key might be $99 dollars, but then you have to pay an Infiniti service tech to update the maps on the hard drive for another $XX cost (can't remember what I paid)

That being said, I didn't notice much of an update on my maps, however I'm assuming that the POI's that I don't use often were significantly updated.

The Nav itself shouldn't need an updated to get the traffic feature, just a subscription to SiriusXM NavTraffic.

I need an update. Hate it when they can't find certain features on the map.

I got that offer too. I am not going to update my Navi. I use it a lot but not much changed. I don't need to know that they just dug up some unknown land and gave it a street name. Chances are, i am not going to that location.

You don't need the coupon to get the $99 price btw. Its already discounted on the purchase website until 7/31/11.

anyone get quotes from the dealer to update the maps? My nav is useless now because of so many new toll roads that were added 2 years ago, without them on it the maps are worthless around town, I've just been using my android navigation feature.

I find myself using my G nav much less and my Android Phone a lot more. I get free accurate traffic, 3-D mapping, satelite photos of the destination, and much more than what the G nav gives me. Plus, I can get real-time info without having to pay a subscription. I've also realized that the traffic feature on the Android phone is extremely accurate- and even the minutes to destination has only been off by like only 1 or 2 minutes max.

The nav in my G is just for show (also I wanted the tech package, so the Nav was a must.)

I think future cars should have docks that can integrate an Android device into the car for navigation. It would really be amazing- since not much work would be required. Actually, since Android phones can depict almost all info you want- weather, news, sports, radio, etc, it would be awesome if Infiniti made an Android integrated- capable G.

I got my Navigator map updated to 2010~2011 today. Here's the cost breakdown. I needed the 210 Freeway update.

Activation code from NAVTECH.com: $99 +CA Tax = $107.66
Riverside Infinity Service 1/2 hour:$62.50 + Free Car wash

(Tustin infinity charge 2X for updating service)

Note: After they have completed the map update, I notice that my compact flash cover is remove. They probably use a compact flash to update the map.
