I've always been confused about that. If I were to upgrade after-market rims, what all do you have to do to the computer?

Also, can you put TPMS sensors into any wheel?

Thanks. Sorry for the newb questions. I bet there's at least one other person out there that needs to know this though.

OK, here is my semi informed opinion. When you upgrade to different wheels, usually you do not have to do any reprogramming to the computer and or traction control system. Traction control works by detecting slipping and or differences in the wheel speeds and puts on the breaks in order to regain traction. Some more sophisticated systems also use g sensors in order to estimate if the car is traveling in the incorrect direction. That same technology also applies to the BFDS.

When it comes to the overall diameter of the wheels, it it changes by a margin of more than 5%, you will have to recalibrate the speedometer. As for the TPMS sensor, you can put them in the majority of the wheels without any problems.

^ As long as you're within 3% difference of rolling diameter from stock, nothing needs to be done.

You can run with or without TPMS sensors. If you forego it, the dash light will stay on, but nothing else will happen. You can also either:
- Transfer the sensors from your old wheels to the new wheels
- Get new sensors and have them programmed to the vehicle

OP, these are all covered in prior posts (a bunch of them actually), so please feel free to use the search.
