Vinyl Roof Question

So later this month I’m planning on wrapping my roof gloss black (yes vinyl). I don’t want to paint because in case I don’t like it or want to switch it up later down the line it’s not permanent, and its only $175 professionally done.

My question is how hard it to remove the vinyl? Is or is there any damage to the paint? Someone told me it even protects the paint while it’s on but I don’t know how true that is.

This question is directed to who ever has had it done and actually removed it. I know it must depend on how long its been on for the life span they give the vynil is 5-7 years.

Thanks!

The type and quality of the vinyl will determine how long it'll last with full sun exposure, and how easy it is to remove x number of years down the road.

Some vinyl's will come off with a little heat, others will require some post-removal cleaning. It does protect the paint from what is otherwise bare exposure to the elements, but that's the extent of its protection.

Been there done that.
It's a royal PITA to remove.
It took me several hours to get off & clean up the residual glue left behind.
FWIW, I will never do it again.

One other thing; it is much more susceptible to damage from bird droppings etc, than paint.

^ And to add to Ian's post, some vinyl's are also very susceptible to hairline scratches, and unlike paint, you can't polish it back up to remove them.
