Dealership use whatever they're contracted to get from their distributor.

Why not just ask them? They'll tell you. My local dealer uses Castrol GTX 5w30

I hear you on that. On the other hand, dealerships are the only one that do warranty service on our cars.

I buy my own tires from TireRack and let my dealer install them. No problem, I like my dealer, they may charge a little more for some things but they do better work. I do the little things myself though. Oil Changes and filter changes.

It differs from dealer to dealer, service writers probably do not know, ask the techs.

Yeah, I just didn't appreciate the fact that he tried to trick me into buying tires from them. Sad thing is, I'm sure a lot of his customers fall for it.

So true especially the older folks that believe anything from the dealer's service reps, and females who statistically know or care less about the mechanics of their automobile. With that said i don't hate mine at all, they're just too damn far 1 1/2 hr away. So they only get big or warranty work from me.

my tires still have quite a bit of meat left as of today, id say 30%+ and about 2 months ago, the guy told me i needed new tires, they were dangerously low ... i looked and him and looked at my tires and said ... Im ok with that.

I dont know what oil they use, dont really care much, doubt they will use crap oil.

Yeah, they can be pretty annoying. I had a female service writer try and sell me tires for my car once. I asked if they were price competitive with Costco. She looked aghast and said I should NEVER buy from Costco because they sell factory 2nds and defects, and that was how they kept there prices so low. It was all I could do not to laugh right in her face; beside being completely false, it was outright slander!
